Our 2 month old grandson was diagnosed at 9 days old

Our grandson and granddaughter in law are receiving the utmost care and help from their doctors. Is there anything we, as the older generation, should know. They live 19 hours from us so we don't see them often, about once a year.

It must be tough when your to far away to see often. Do you care to share what the condition is? Are they in the hospital or at home?

When I want to help a sibling or friend who is located a distance away, I try to think of things that will make their life easier. If you can afford it, a restaurant or deli gift card so they do not have to worry about cooking. Maybe a place that does carry out. Not sure what city they are in, there might be other options to help from a distance.

Maybe a simple text, occasionally, that you are thinking of them.

Hope they recover quickly.

@roch The family is really doing well. They have a great medical team and their insurance is great. We keep in touch through our son and daughter-in-law. Our grandson and granddaughter-in-law are not ready to communicate with the rest of us yet but are planning a visit here this fall. They live close to DC and we are in Iowa. I've been in touch with my doctor to see if we should be tested to see if we are carriers because we have other grandkids who are planning families.
