Time passing way too fast

Does anyone else feel like time is passing way too fast as we get older?
It used to be bad enough, but now it's going faster than the speed of light.

My days are more full when I plan them BEFORE opening the computer to read emails and news!

First I feed the dogs, make coffee and toast and take my meds and vitamins.
Then I pause to imagine my day. My wife sleeps late, so this is a quiet, focused time.
I use the Mayo Clinic HABIT planner and pencil. This is a technology that waits for me to think! Paper and pencil.
My plan might just be five or six words, but it's a moment of uninterrupted consideration of my intentions for the day.

Once I open the computer I am given all sorts of interesting things to wander through. An endless supply...I can sit in front of the screen for hours, and my day disappears.
Not a very fulfilling use of my time.
Downright addictive, frankly.
My little morning notes are my safety line!

@edsutton I find that time passes quickly when I watch TV or surf the computer, but slows down when I read a book. Ahhhhh.

Time usually goes fast, when you are having fun! Are you okay and having a lot of fun w your family w activities that gives you happiness? That perhaps is one of the reasons that you feel satisfied and let your time fly away quickly from you dear. It is a good thing.

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking me asking you?

May I suggest that you go and do some volunteer work at
Hospice centers or in Homeless shelters for Veterans, etc who can benefit from your service a lot. Please help
People in need in several programs and you will see that
their concept of gun will fun is very different and how their time doesn't go that fast like yours!

Good much to you.
W regards,
VJ

Granny no guns please, only Fun filled activities like. Coloring, Bingo, drawing and painting on canvass oil painting etching etc be fun. Visit senior centers, where they may have several things planned for seniors and elderly. You may get ideas from them. If
You can teach swimming to seniors that would help.a lot.

Do each.activity, very slowly to.slow down your time.
More later.

I'm sorry that you are going through this at such a young age. It's so difficult to imagine not having unlimited tomorrows when we're young. We're taught as children to plan for tomorrow in so many ways, and correctly so. Seldom are we taught to balance the gift of the present with the promise of the future though. It sounds like you have a positive mindset given your circumstances. Please keep in mind that no one can predict the future and no one can promise anything about tomorrow, any tomorrow. No one can predict when we will begin our next chapter. Continue to enjoy each day as it comes to you. Sometimes we have more time than we think we may have, sometimes less but no one on earth can mark our calendar for any future event with any degree of certainty. I pray that you will have many more quality tomorrows than anyone predicts.

@kjoed53 Thank you. That’s perfectly put ❤️‍🩹

It’s so freeing no longer being busy being busy. Life is still incredibly rewarding but in a very different more mindful way. When my time does come I’ll have no regrets.

Yes, I remain hopeful there are many days ahead but I no longer take them for granted.

The unpredictability of life gives and takes. I like to plan one thing each day that gets me away from the house, but sometimes I just have to accept that it's not going to happen. I must admit that at times it's of my own doing. Life is an ad hoc adventure some days, and some days it's nice to just sit outside and sip my coffee while I enjoy the wonders of nature and God's creation. I worked hard for years to get to where I don't have to go faster than the world around me.

I find a lot of humor in life these days. I work at a small after school program. I am the oldest person on the school campus and enjoy watching everyone from 60 on down "go round and round" figuring out life itself. Watching humans develop is interesting when one is much older than everyone else.

And I am sure there is a 90 year old watching me still "developing" at 70ish.

The wheels on earth go round and round and sometimes it feels chaotic watching all these younglings figure out what matters and what doesn't. LOL.

And I also watch with empathy, because life is not easy to navigate at any stage. And these days with computers no one thinks to ask someone who has "been there done that". So I just mostly watch.

@triciaot I don't think Ai is going to give us any more time any more than computers have given us less paperwork. Humans are going to find other things to do to feel productive and active.

If I had to sit at a computer all day long reading emails, I would just shoot myself.

@slarson14, Your comments remind me of something I think of more and more as I age. I've found myself recalling the early years of our marriage. How simple life was. We had a handful of bills and we usually had to go to a store to buy something. I was 21 and my wife was 20. We had a small house with a $70 a month mortgage. The phone bill had long distance charges and the phone would be wired to the wall for several decades. Did time go as fast then?
Then the children came and we were fortunate they didn't have social media. Then they had kids. My father unexpectedly died and I retired and the internet came along. No more wired phones and things come from delivery vans. Did time speed up then?
I had many health issues, a couple life threatening with lengthy recoveries. My mother requires quite a bit of our time. I use an Amazon AI to get answers to questions like how old was an actor in a movie I'm watching. I'm pretty sure time is moving a lot faster than when we got married. What's really sped it up is the weather. I froze my ass off last winter. Not in the house because I've graduated to a very warm 74-75 degrees. I dread next winter so I'm certain that alone will speed up the nice weather ahead. So yes, time speeds up as we feel it and all the electronic stuff just made us have to do more crap, like write about it here instead of reading a book.
