Achiness after menopause

Posted by sjvikto @sjvikto, 3 days ago

My last period was about a year and a half ago. Since then I have gained about 15 pounds. I thought it was because I was being less careful about what I was eating and I was less physically active because I was under a lot of stress, but I think it was also because of menopause. I am having a lot of aches, probably because I am not exercising as much, but one of my primary forms of exercise was mat Pilates and I'm finding it difficult to get up from my mat. I'm taking water exercise classes twice a week that feel good while I'm doing them, but I am achy afterward. Is this common for menopause?

@sjvikto Menopause symptoms varies for each person, but achy joints is one of the symptoms. Discuss with your ob/gyn who has knowledge of menopause along with a list of any other symptoms you have. Check online for Dr. Mary Claire Haver who specializes in this and has written a book New Menopause or her podcast “The Pause Life” for helpful information before your appointment.
