Lyrica
Hello! I take Lyrica for neuropathic pain. Recently when taking my evening dose, I experience pain in my feet afterward. I understand laying down at night can increase pain. But I'm already laying down by the time I take it. It doesn't seem to make a difference on the timing of the dose. Anyone have a similar experience?

That's interesting! I've been taking Lyrica for the past 3 years, currently at 75mg 3x a day. So my last dose is usually right before bed. Sadly, regardless when I take it, evenings are when my nerve pain is the worst. I tried adjusting my doses so I could take the last one a couple of hours before bed, and that helped a little, giving me the chance to fall asleep. But then the pain would wake me up. Your experience might depend on the dose you're taking.
I'm picking up a new prescription later today for low dose Naltrexone (1.5mg capsule once a day). I've read posts by others in the Neuropathy group that they have found it eliminates the burning, pins and needles, and electric shocks, but not the numbness. The side effects are also relatively mild and dissipate as your body adjusts to it. It may take some time for it to take effect to that extent, but I'm willing to give it a try and get off of Lyrica. I really liked it at first, but it's given me awful brain fog and fatigue, not to mention weight gain. So I'm hopeful in trying the LDN and will post what kind of results I get.
There are various websites that explain about it. One of them is http://www.ldnresearchtrust.org

3 ReactionsI’ve been on Lyrica for 3 yrs. Dose has gone up to 100mg 3x per day. I take dose immediately when I get up 3pm and 10pm just be bed. Pain is manageable until around 5am. My worst issue is the numbness in my feet has reached the point where I it on the entire bottom of my feet and starting to progress to my ankles. Lyrica does nothing on the numbness for me.

1 ReactionWelcome @corkybailey, I have idiopathic small fiber neuropathy with numbness only, no real pain so I'm not on any neuropathy medications as there are none that help numbness (or I haven't heard of anyone that's found one). A search of Connect lists quite a few discussions when searching for "neuropathy numbness what helps" - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/discussions/.
Have you tried any other medications for pain relief?

1 Reaction@rockinrene65 Well I guess you have something!
@corkybailey You're right - nothing for the numbness.
I too feel other (bone) pains are caused if I take Lyrica in the night. So switched to morning. Anyway I really don’t know why I am taking it at all as it’s not helping pain. I just feel Lyrica may be helping in the reduction in the frequency of cramps.

1 ReactionLyrica/Pregabalin helps me with diabetic neuropathy pain as well asproviding itching relief.
It's not intended for general pain relief. If it doesn't benefit you then don't take it.
