Transperineal biopsy recovery time?
Howdy fellow prostaters
I just had a transperineal prostate biopsy on Thursday. I liked it much better than the trans-rectal one I had 5 years ago, with spotty local anaesthesia (I remember the sounds "click" followed by "ouch").
I especially loved the general anaesthesia. I wanted to take some home with me, but they said no.
When I came out of the anaesthesia, I was quite chatty, and who knows what silly things I might have said. I do remember one statement I made. I wanted to make a general compliment to the professionalism at Mayo, so I said "This place just reeks of competence!"
It made perfect sense at the time.
But I digress...
I'm peeng more-or-less normal now (i.e. very slow), and I've had no blood in urine or stool. I'm really wondering when I can go back to lifting weights, which has done wonders for my mental attitude this past year or so. One nurse said no exercise for 3 days, one said for a week. Maybe I'll start back in the gym Thursday of next week, and lift 1/2 of the normal weight? 1/3?
Anyone here with experience to share?

Yes I completely agree @oldgreenpaint. My medical history is unfortunately more complicated. I am a liver transplant receipient and on immunosuppressants for the rest of my life. This whole thing started with a PSA test that showed an increase from about 3.5 to 4.6. My team ordered the MRI which showed a small lesion in the peripheral zone that was classified as Pirads 3. Since I am immunosuppressed I am at higher risk of all kinds of cancers - so they ordered the biopsy. It’s been 1 week now, so hopefully I will get results today before I head back to the urologist for another voiding test. Was mostly blood free yesterday, but did notice some blood on the pad this morning. Had a hard time peeing overnight - up every 1.5 hours or so. Kind of expecting that they will put in a catheter today - unless my voiding improves. Will keep you posted.
