Hello @brenreynolds, and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect.
I have posted a link for you to read from other Mayo Clinic Connect members regarding Jadiance (empagliflozin) for treating heart failure, take a look:
https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/jardiance-for-chf/
Here is another link from the NIH with a more scientific lean:

Are you asking about this because you have heart failure?

I was diagnosed with HFpEF Oct of 25. Initially Jardiance helped. About two months in, it either quit working or my HFpEF got significantly worse. This past week I had a minimally invasive periocardiotomy at the Mayo as part of a research study. Fourth person in the study. The results were amazing…night and day .

Have had heart failure since 2001. My EF has been 22% for over 10 years. My heart failure doctor is the Director of Heart Failure and transplant at Mayo Jacksonville.
He recently put on on Jardiance as said was showing research might help with restructuring heart. It is one of those drugs meant for something else that turn out to be good for heart failure.
I have not had any side affects to it. Been taking it about 6 months now. Hopefully will keep my heart failure at bay (I have no exercise restrictions) nor signs of heart failure. I was told the reason for this was my life long exercising. Which I continue now but doing different things now. I do water aerobics 5 days a week. Bike twice a week (15-20 miles), and swim twice a week.
I think finding physical activity your like is important for body and finding a hobby, or things like yoga, reading, gardening, etc. is good for mental health.

1 ReactionTried Jardiance twice. Both times got urinary tract infections. Black box warnings indicate persons over 75 years old have a higher incidence of UTIs. I am over 75 yrs old.
