Lower chronic severe right leg pain
Hello, my name is MsLadyTee7, I am new to the group and very glad to be here. I have severe lower right leg pain and been experiencing it for over a year, went to several doctors which one did MRI and showed that bulging disc was pressing on the sciatic nerve and that causes excruciating pain in my lower right leg. Thru prescribed me every medication in the book to give me some relief but nothing has helped. This for of pain in my leg burns, pinches and throbs constantly limiting my ability to stand or walk sometimes only minutes at a time. I am in constant pain and wonder if anyone else is experiencing this issue or something similar and if so what have you relief. I don't know how much longer I can continue to function with this type of pain in my leg. Please if anyone have any suggestions or answers please respond. Thank you all so much and again in so glad to be a part of this group.

I can relate to how you are feeling. I have had pain associated with a shin shave biopsy. I am going for ultrasound as per my doctor who is a rheumatologist. The pain management clinic I went to prescribed physical therapy which I have been doing for last six weeks. There I get exercises for my feet (I have neuropathy) stationary bike, massage and red light therapy. I have found this to be somewhat helpful. I also saw a physiatrist who has me using Wise Men Healing Balm along with lavender oil for self-massage. Patience is needed as this can be a long heal. I refuse to take prescription medicines or cortisone shots as I am ultra-sensitive to that stuff. I tried tylenol and advil but they did not really help. A positive mindset is needed and I know this is not easy. I wish you success in your recovery.

2 ReactionsAsk for Caudal Injection. I get them yearly and it helps a lot. Some don’t get the whole year of relief but it’s worth the try.

1 ReactionSciatica (nerve pain in general_) is difficult to treat with pain meds, I have not found anything that touches it, even narcotics.
Sometimes anti inflammatories can help
The bulging discs will sometimes heal itself with time.
If not usually next step is PT, after that epidural shots to bring down inflamation.
Surgically there are minimally invasive ones that can trim the bulging part and relieve the pressure on the nerve.
I would start with a non-surgical spine Dr. and come up with a plan and go from there.
Sorry for your pain,
It makes life miserable, but can get better

3 Reactions@arcuri24 Thank you so much for that advice, I'm going to a neurologist in about a week and see what options he gives me. Hopefully one that relieves this pain in my leg
Do not be surprised if he prescribes gabapentin-that seems to be THE drug of the moment. It will probably offer some relief but it does have some side effects. Have you tried physical therapy? Its a long haul but it might actually rid you of some, maybe all of the pain. Red light therapy is also beneficial. And, you might want to research supplements that can help with your type of pain. I take magnesium glycinate at night and it is relaxing and helpful for getting to sleep.
@arcuri24 Already tried every medication they have for never pain no relief at all. Did physical therapy two different sessions 12 weeks each and didn't help at all. I'm at the point now where my doctor is sending me to neurologist and he will give me options hopefully on getting some relief. I will keep you posted. Thank you so much
I was diagnosed with femur bursitis.
years ago, I had a lower lumbar herniated disc.
horrible sleep and terrible mobility.
got 2 epidurals, tramadol injections and physio.
took a long time to heal and deal with pesky pain.
what works for me is hot pack, ice gel, stretching, physio & massage.

1 ReactionHi MisLady, I think it would help if you shared what prescription medication you have tried.
@arcuri24 have you tried Tylenol3 which has added codeine?
@arcuri24 I have persistent leg pain and was prescribed gabapentin, that didn’t help at all. I do agree with the magnesium glycinate.
