I'm confused about what my loop recorder is actually doing!

I've had a loop recorder for about 18 months. I'm very confused about what this is actually doing or just supposed to do. If I haven't recorded my own symptoms (such as fast heart beat when I wake up at night), is it still monitoring my heart's activity? If not, it seems like I'm sleeping through any other symptoms that may arise and they aren't recorded! I know, I need to ask my doctor. I want to ask here first so I can understand this and not feel stupid! Thanks for any advice.

Wow how maddening! So you mean that your doctor that was supposed to be reviewing the reports every month never noticed your rhythm issue and/or never said anything to you? Isn't this mall practice?

It definitely is unsettling. I have a new cardiologist at the Veterans Administration (VA) and he is very interested in helping me reduce my PVC burden. I Just started Metoprolol and I only get the heart reports monthly so I’m anxious to see what the next one shows.

Exactly. My LOOP recorder was the biggest waste of my money and my medical insurance companies money.
I took over a three year period was transported by ambulance to the hospital where even Paramedics said my heart beat was way out of whack and not normal at all YET hundreds of times I sent in recordings even during a irregular heartbeat episode and the LOOP always said NORMAL HEART RHYTHM.
I asked all my cardiologist over these past four years now HOW can that be that my heart is way out of rhythm yet LOOP said ALL NORMAL?? All these darn cardiologist say is "Well, LOOP said ALL normal'. What a terrible joke this LOOP is. Total ripoff in my opinion and I still have no answers or real help.

Do you still feel the same about your ILR experience? My ARNP has suggested I submit to the
procedure soon. However, she is circumspect when I ask questions like "what is the value to me?" The clinic's explanation has been satisfactory, and yet I still have questions. I am also curious about your mindset this far from your insertion procedure. Have you received ANY
productive information from wearing your ILR, or do you still consider it a "waste"?
