oral and vulva lichen planus for years with no long term relief
Has anyone heard of any new treatments for vulva lichen planus My dermatologist just started me on Methotrexate 2mg once week. with folic acid every day except I take once week tablet. I have it so badly. The pain is terrible, all the skin peels and at times bleeds. Going to bathroom is excruciating. I also have in my mouth but I found a way to help it. I eat NO hot and spice food. I use electric tooth brush and ONLY baking soda on it to brush. My periodontist said I might be allergic to toothpaste. I rinse my mouth chlorhexidine when it is really bad. This seems to help some. I've used many different types of topical creams and ointments. I'm 82 and have had since I was in my early 60. They treated me for years for yeast infection which never helped.

I’ve found the most effective treatment for my OLP is to rinse my mouth several times each day with 100% pure aloe Vera gel. It soothed and healed the ulcers much better than the steroid gels.

@lww …I use Cleure flavor free toothpaste and unflavored Closys Ultra Sensitive mouthwash. Both are SLS free. Apparently, SLS is banned in Europe. Can’t remember where I read that. I bring them to the oral hygienist when I have my teeth cleaned to avoid using her products.

Something from Walmart- Fruit of the Earth. In the sun care/lotion section. It’s very thick- I coat my mouth and let it sit about 5 minutes then spit- no rinsing after spitting. I would do this several times a day until healed.
