Important information about statins that I’m going to ask my doc about
Just a bit of information I discovered last week. One of the side effects of taking "simvistatin" is temporary memory loss. It is the only statin that has this effect. I am going to talk to my .doctor about stopping it, with his guidance of course. I have had some short lapses in memory .... forgetting part of my phone number, etc.

I did follow the food plan they recommend carefully during those first six months. I still take no medication for Type2 and my a1C remains at 6 or under every three months I check. Reversing Diabetes has gobs and gobs of recipes! I do check those most weeks. Always something yummy and healthy for us too. Cheers to you.

Diet is a big issue. Stop eating ultra processed foods and learn to take the time to use raw and partially refined foods. All the preservatives are not your friends

2 ReactionsWhatt is the proper healthy number for oxidized cholesterol and is there a real solution other than statins for reducing this cholesterol and improving circulation?
My Doc put me on Rosuvastatin over a year ago because of the amount of plaque I had in my Carotid arteries. It’s working perfectly. No additional plaque buildup occurring. I’ve had no side affects from the medication.

1 Reaction@sbranen is just started Rouvastatin once a week as I am statin resistant (4 others haven’t work for me) in lowering my numbers and overtime side effects. Two siblings are on Repatha. Thank you for posting.. I am hopeful!
Soluble fiber helps lower LDL. It has to be soluble. A piece of wheat bread doesn't qualify.
A diet low in saturated fat helps a lot. Note that doesn't mean zero saturated fat. The typical American diet has no shortage of fat, though. That new McDonald's Big Arch burger their CEO could barely stand to taste? A thousand (!) calories, 2000mg (!!) sodium, and 25g (!!!) saturated fat. I'd have to be starving on a desert island to eat that thing.

1 Reaction@clj9821 my cholesterol has been high most of my life and I can't tolerate statins, with psoriasis arthritis (creates muscle spasms) so I am on Repatha. Well tolerated and works wonders.

1 ReactionI stopped taking my statin months ago. I had blood work done and my cholesterol and LDL are mildly elevated. On Wednesday I will see a Nurse Practitioner who just looks at the lab work on her screen. I’ve been mildly anemia for 20+ years and I’m tempted to say that I plan to make it normal by declaring that I am a woman. (Joke).
When was the last time any of you had someone examine your body outside of checking your heart with a stethoscope?
Around 1950, my grandfather and an uncle were somewhere. A man pulled my uncle aside and asked him if he was aware that his father had a brain tumor. My uncle said that he was being treated for epilepsy. The man said that he was a doctor and his father’s gait was typical of a tumor. It was the size of a baseball.
Connon Doyle used a doctor at his medical school as his prototype of Sherlock Homes. The doctor would great a new patient and use his eyes for clues on the patient’s issues. No one does that now.
