Pseudomonas infections

Hi,
I have pseudomonas. One is 2+ mucoid and the other is +smooth. The pulmonologist has prescribed Levaquin, and I’m afraid of it due to the potential tendon side effects. She says it’s the only drug that treats this stuff. She told me about this potential side effect, but said it was rare and she had never had a patient who had a rupture. I’m 65. Anyone who has used Levaquin, I’m interested in if it knocked the pseudo back, whether you had side effects, and whether you know of any other drugs that work on this without this risk. Thanks!

Update: one week complete.
Coughing has decreased (other than during the nebbing when i start but quickly goes away and at night because I suck on a cough drop lozenge before going to bed). Living here in S AZ with high 90’s low 100’s has been worrisome because of dehydration so I drink a lot of fluid including Liquid IV because I do not want to mess up my electrolytes and hopefully I am protecting my kidneys. I must use oxygen at night so with dryness increasing I will be buying a moisturizer for my nose that apparently is safe to use with the oxygen. I am walking more on our treadmill to exercise my lungs so Miracle of miracles, too, my pulse-ox is now reading 95 during the day. I have always had trouble expelling mucous but I seem to be more successful at that, too. One day at a time.

@desertdwellerjh Liquid IV has things in it that will definitely affect your kidneys! Please ask your doctor about using any kind of electrolytes. I have stage 3 kidney disease and I cannot use them!

Did you get insomnia from the Zosyn? Do you think the 24 hour drip would make that known side effect of Zosyn more likely??

@irenea8 no, I did not have insomnia . It would be my usual mid nite-time bathroom call ….I did have tummy troubles on occasion during the 3 weeks , however I don’t have much of an appetite so perhaps if I ate better that may have diminished the tummy issues .
