Dealing with stage 4 lung cancer

Posted by jamaica193 @jamaica193, Mar 20 11:31am

Hi, I had stage 3 lung cancer and did 3 treatments of CISPPEME. The cancer has progressed to stage 4 and also has spread, the treatments didn't work. He want to put me on DOCEtaxel treatments.
Has anyone had a good outcome with that?

I'm sorry to hear you're having progression @jamaica193. the uncertainty a chance in status brings is stressful. here is a link to some other folks' experience with docetaxel. it looks like it was well tolerated for them.

Hi Jamaica193,
My husband had stage 4 lung cancer. He didn't have the kind of medicine that you had but he reacted badly to all the treatments that they gave him so he chose to have no treatments at all. What he did do was eat healthy and eating healthy for my husband was good quality red meat and fruits and vegetables. Plus he stayed away from crowds so he wouldn't get any illnesses like the flu, etc. We also prayed together. God was there for us. My husband lived 14 years with stage 4 lung cancer. Everyone is different. What worked for my husband may not work for you. However, if you ask God for guidance you will get it. Just talk to God like he's your best friend and he is! I'll say a prayer for you also.
I wish you the best.

Welcome @jamaica193, Facing this type of recurrence has to be difficult. How are you handling the news?
Each cancer can be different and respond to treatment differently. What type of lung cancer do you have?
How long ago was your initial diagnosis? How was your recurrence found, a regular scan, or were you having symptoms?

@jamaica193, I've booked flights and AirBnB's along with travel insurance. The type of insurance that is coupled with the flight/stay doesn't always have the most extensive coverage, but it's given me some piece of mind. Some credit cards include insurance when the trip is booked using the card. Were you denied travel insurance because of your medical condition?
