Diagnosed with severe traumatic brain injury. I have been living at the hospital since July 17 last year. I have lupus, Sojourns,Hashimotos, mixed tissue disease which caused severe axonal sensorimotor peripheral polyneuropathy, CIDP, small fiber neuropathy, CAN-cardiac autonomic neuropathy- my Bp goes up and down and I have arrhythmias bradycardia/tachycardia your heatbeats too slow or to fast, dysautonomia and seizures.
Anxiety, stress and panic - today stressed out over finding a handicap van, finding home nursing, he needs about seven different doctors. I had to pull over as I was driving started having an anxiety attack and panicking on how am I going to managing this all. What if I buy a handicap van use it three months sell it going to be in the negative. I had to do deep breathing exercises. It all really started this morning. The VA was lying to me. They told me all his teeth needed pulling. I spoke with his dentist he needs three crowns and 1 implant compared to pulling all his teeth. Big difference I yelled and hung up screaming and crying in a pillow. Then I went to the doctor. The anxiety proceeded to get worse. Pulled into the Walmart parking lot and just cried and screamed for awhile and then did deep breathing exercises we were taught in RN school. It’s tough to have a lot on the table with no spouse to help you. As a single mother I feel very overwhelmed. Making all these decisions and spending my days at the hospital. If I don’t show up he doesn’t get feed because the nurses will not give him his food. Yesterday they wouldn’t give him his seizure meds. This is by a neuroscientist. Hope this helps you.
Sometimes yelling and letting it out helps along with deep breathing exercises.

1 Reaction@cheryllynn1003ky - having anxiety, stress and panic with Parkinson's to the point you feel like you cannot cope sounds overwhelming. I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm inviting others who've talked about feeling similar things with their Parkinson's to come share with you what they have experienced and anything that has helped manage it. Please meet @mbertolucci @doorman @raebaby @hopeful33250 @1died2x @rhuck513 @terrirussell.
cheryllynn1003ky - have you noticed anything that particularly triggers feelings of stress, anxiety and panic in you lately?
Hello @cheryllynn1003ky,
I am glad that @lisalucier invited me to post with you about the emotional stress that can result from a PD diagnosis. I see that @artemis1886 has already shared some ideas with you on dealing with anxiety. Emotional changes and mood problems are considered Non-Motor Symptoms of Parkinson's. The Davis Phinney Foundation has an article about these non-motor symptoms. Here is a link to this article: https://davisphinneyfoundation.org/blog/what-are-the-non-motor-symptoms-of-parkinsons/
I would encourage you to read the section titled, "There are different ways to address mood changes, including."
Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and also to keep you physically active with this diagnosis. Are you involved in an exercise program?

1 ReactionYes - the anxiety, at times, is almost unbearable! I do have an anti-anxiety rx, perscribed for once a day,. but I do find myself taking more than that in order to get thru the day & this is, for me, one of the most difficult sx connected wth PD.

1 Reaction@windyh - really intense anxiety can be quite paralyzing and really interfere with life. I'm sorry this is one of your most difficult Parkinson's symptoms.
I had an anti-anxiety prescription before where I could tell it was helping but not enough. I explained this to my doctor on my healthcare portal, and she doubled the dose. That did end up being sufficient to make me feel like my normal self again.
Have you had the chance to mention to your prescribing doctor that you feel your symptoms may need a higher dosage?

1 Reaction@cheryllynn1003ky - experiencing anxiety, panic and stress are significant and can really wreck your quality of life. These are totally legitimate to mention and about which to seek the support and help of others.
How are you doing mood-wise today?
