This doesn’t look like any type of skin cancer, so there’s no need to worry about that. It looks like an irritated pimple forming, a cyst starting to form, or possibly an irritated hair follicle.

1 ReactionIf you have a history of skin cancer in your family, at least i would get checked by a dermatologist. My experience has been that if anything changes from what you see, that is when to get checked. There are many pictures online of problem bumps.
I remember having one near my eye. The optometrist politely said when i asked him, that it was a pore that filled and covered with pus. I went home and cleaned it and it was gone. It was fairly small, but i thought the worst.

3 ReactionsHow long has it been there? I show my dermatologist anything that looks unusual. After having a spot that looked unusual for over a month, I showed her and it was Basal cell carcinoma. Since then I’m diligent with skin checks.

2 Reactions@ehdog I had a similar looking thing on the tip of my nose. After a biopsy at a dermatology clinic it was determined to be basal cell carcinoma. I received 20 sessions of superficial radiation therapy which was successful.

2 Reactions@ehdog: It's always concerning when an unusual symptom or spot occurs and doesn't go away. Please keep in mind that while we aim to lend support here on Mayo Clinic Connect, we're not able to clinically diagnose. If this area has remained and you remain concerned, your best bet is to have it evaluated by a professional. In the event it has not resolved and you seek medical attention, please let us know what your provider advises.
