@1942marilyne Here is my take - Unless used as suggested in the article cited by @johnbishop to purify bad water, copper water bottles are yet another in a long list of schemes dedicated to separating us from our money.

Did you know that in mineral-rich parts of the country, the water already contains copper that must be monitored lest it reach unhealthy levels? As always, a varied, healthful diet is our best chance at getting the right balance of vitamins and minerals.

Remember that Ayurvedic medicine, the source of this advice, arose from an area where abundant, varied food was not always available, and where drinking water was often heavily contaminated. Water stored in copper vessels removed pathogens that cause diarrhea, leaving one less health concern.
