CBD or Voltarin

I use prescribed diclofenic cream for my arthritis. It is the ingredient in volterin but much stronger.
My pharmacist prepares it.

I use Voltaren gel on my hands to treat arthritis, and on my back for sore or pulled muscles. I like it and think it works well.

Another brand I really like is Bio-Freeze Professional. It comes as a gel, a roll on and a spray. There is a strong menthol smell, but that subsides and I would say for infant relief of pain, it's better than Voltaren.

I don't have any experience with topical CBD.

Very sound advice. I'm not a big believer in CBD. Maybe I'm partial, but it seems CBD can cure or help any and all conditions. Same with smoking marijuana. I'm sure there are benefits to both, I just don't see it.

I have arthritis in every bone of my body. Be careful with Voltaren and all other drugs containing ibuprofen. Some people are allergic to ibuprofen. Read carefully the package insert with the list of possible side effects. My mother took Vioxx and Celebrex for arthritis (active ingredient in both is ibuprofen). She had a ruptured bowel with no warning. I got hives on my torso after trying each of those two oral drugs for a while. My doctor then suggested Voltaren because it is a topical drug, not an oral one, but after a few weeks on it, I had hives again. So it definitely can get into the blood stream. For top-of-foot arthritis, I would look for a good podiatrist. He/she might suggest a orthotic or a more supportive and better-cushioned shoe. I swear by New Balance sneakers, and their more expensive ones are their best. I find them better than the shoes sold by foot doctors in their offices. The Brooks brand is also good. If the tongues of your sneakers always slip sideways, perhaps you are pronating. You can find sneakers for that problem if you search for it on the New Balance website or talk to them. Drugs can’t cure everything, and all drugs have side effects.

@heyjoe415 I have my med card in Illinois. I do not smoke weed. I DO use thc and cbd products for pain relief for osteoarthritis in my foot, hands, and neck. The BEST gummies that have helped are Betty's Eddies, bought from dispensaries, and online, I get gummies in the mail. I use five brand daily cbd/thc gummies. I'll eat a "daily" for mild pain. If it's really bad, I use five brands "chill" gummies. Avexia makes tablets that you swallow with water. They are sold in dispensaries and work very well also.

I got a very bad case of hives all over my body after taking Celebrex for about 10 days....it was from head to toe!! Had to take Prednisone to get rid of it. Tried Meloxicam and Diclofenac pills....didn't work. I now take 1800mg ibuprofen and 3900mg of Acetaminophen a day....waiting for my hip replacement surgery in 2 months.

That sounds like a very large daily dose of ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Ibuprofen and all NSAIDs are hard on the kidneys, and acetaminophen is hard on the liver.

I was taking diclofenac every day - first time was for pre and post op pain from hip and subsequent replacement. I stayed on diclofenac as my left shoulder was full of osteophytes, very painful, and I had to wait 3 months for surgery. So I had back-to-back joint replacements.

When I had my pre-surgery physical and blood work for my shoulder, my creatinine levels were 1500 when the top of the healthy range is 1200. This happens when the kidneys have to work extra hard to clear NSAIDs. The NP suggested I stop taking the med. I dropped down to one pill every two or three days and used a lot of ice! I used diclofenac for about a week after surgery, and then Tylenol as needed (not very often). By surgery, my creatinine number had dropped from 1500 to 1000, and now it's even lower than that.

Anyway, if you haven't, please ask your surgeon or PA about the doses you're taking.

Good news? You'll feel great after the THR and recovery is usually short!

For me Voltarin didnt help. Never tried CBD. I use OrthoGel for pain. It helps.
