Hello all, I'm Alyce. My husband has been dealing with chronic pain for the last 5-7 years. He has had cervical and lumbar spinal surgeries in the past 2 years, which as been structurally successful. Thankful for some relief in pain provided by his Mayo Clinic surgeon! Side effects from surgeries such as burning nerve pain in his lower extremities and sciatic nerve pain are now issues. Also new symptoms of pain in his thoracic spine are now occurring. He's a trooper! I know chronic pain is prevalent and I empathize with all who are dealing with it. Being a spouse to someone who is suffering from daily chronic pain is most difficult. Giving a shout out to all those people who are trying to support a loved one who is dealing with with chronic pain.

Hello all,
Do any of you have any suggestions or resources to make the case for short and/ or long term disability? Chronic pain is making it difficult to sustain sitting and standing at a desk for prolonged periods of normal work hours. Tried part time. Still too much for the pain. Insurance, of course, is the main issue as I am not old enough for Medicare and Cobra is so expensive and I need extensive medical coverage. Thank you for considering.

@akristykat I really hope your doctors are giving you sufficient pain meds. If not try 1) different doc, and 2) if not forceful. can you learn? I find it helps and if the doctor is alienated it means their egos are too important. I find, I know many can’t handle it, but larger doses of gabapentin for fibromyalgia and other neurological disorders. I occasionally use Tylenol 3 because all the others have so many side effects. I find being assertive helps otherwise the depression wins.

Meloxicam is an NSAID, ie fairly unhelpful. I recommend not giving up -
get politely persistent -- maybe find a different doctor. I hope you live
in an area where there are other providers. The medical profession really
needs to experience pain themselves. Can you handle gabapentin?

Hi! I'm Anna. I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and its umbrella of comorbidities such as POTS, and chronic pain. I also have Chronic Bilateral Osteomyelitis in both of my femurs. I've broken both femurs and have had 8- about to have 9 surgeries on them. I have acute on chronic pain- and am wondering if I have CRPS.

Hi . I have chronic pain after a fall down the stairs and a t 11 spinal fracture 2 years ago. I can't take anti inflammatories because I am on blood thinners. I also have osteoporosis. I don't take any bone medication because of their side effects, but I think I will have to start taking something. Can anyone recommend the safest bone medication please. I know that they all have side effects especially prolia which I won't go back on. I was put on it years ago when it was first on the market, I was only in my fifties and I wasn't informed about it's side effects. I stopped it for dental work not knowing at the time that my bones would lose more density by stopping it. I have just turned 70 .
Thank you for reading this and any advice is welcome.

@ahrensburg75 in reply to your message. I am 75 female with severe osteoporosis (or at least that is what the dexascan said!! However I have just had a spinal fusion for L4/5 degenerative. I also suffer chronic pain , fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue . It’s a hard fight isn’t it . I can recommend Fortibone a side effect free natural supplement. the Professor who operated on me said although my bones are small they are strong !! I am now in recovery stages , trying to build muscle is the hardest . I wish you much luck.
