Hello
I was diagnosed with moderate/ severe Spinal Stenosis last Oct, with an MRI, having a lot pain in buttox and down leg since May. Recently starting to get tingling in leg and foot. I did PT and Dry Needling for last 5 months along with 1/2 Tramadol and 2 Tylenol and 1 advil daily, with minor relief. I take 3 RX at fairly high doses for high blood pressure and very skeptical to get a Steroid Epidural for that reason. Had anyone had any relief from Cymbalta or any other RX? I am female 73 yrs old.
Thank you
Hi, my name is Marleina & I recently found this group. In 2012, I had spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis. I was 63 years old. I left the hospital with two rods & 20 screws in my back. Since that time my pain has escalated to the point that I don’t go out very much. I’m thankful for this group.
I am Susie. I have chronic pain caused by nerve damage. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic IBS, and anxiety.
My name is Cindy, I am 64 and new to this group. In September last year I had unbearable pain going down my left side and my foot was numb.
I couldn’t get comfortable so I was admitted. I was told I had sciatic nerve pain.
Since then I’ve done>PT, acupuncture, gabapentin, lyraca , at least 3 MRI’s, nerve conduction test. Met pain management group, who absolutely did nothing! I never even saw a Doctor and they wanted to put some kind of spacer in my nerve surgically to relieve pain. It was a proposed option.
I tried to explain I have a bleeding disorder, is there a risk? Keep in mind we are only talking to a nurse practitioner each time. WHO honestly had to grab her phone to google certain things because she couldn’t answer our question and concerns.
At this point I feel hopeless. Will I ever be able to walk any great distances again? Will I ever be pain free?
I did see my pcp today, and I trying to find another pain management group. What do they do? Ugh just so discouraged.
What prompted this sciatic pain. This can’t be something I have to live with, is it?

1 ReactionHi . I have chronic pain after a fall down the stairs and a t 11 spinal fracture 2 years ago. I can't take anti inflammatories because I am on blood thinners. I also have osteoporosis. I don't take any bone medication because of their side effects, but I think I will have to start taking something. Can anyone recommend the safest bone medication please. I know that they all have side effects especially prolia which I won't go back on. I was put on it years ago when it was first on the market, I was only in my fifties and I wasn't informed about it's side effects. I stopped it for dental work not knowing at the time that my bones would lose more density by stopping it. I have just turned 70 .
Thank you for reading this and any advice is welcome.
@ailsas I did call my doctors office about all the pain in my legs after SI Joint surgery. They did call back after a few days and told me it was the medication they used to put me to sleep. I really don't think so because I have had many surgeries and that never happened with the gas.
It was not just a little pain, it was severe.
@cghernand Hi Cindy, I was told for 20 years that my back pain was from Sciatic nerve pain from my low back. They were wrong. I was treated for 20 years with not much relief. I then went to a new doctor and found out is was my SI Joint. They put a spacer in my SI Joint and the pain went away. A week ago I had the other side done and not sure about it yet. You have to give it about 6 weeks to see if it works well. I would certainly find another doctor, NOT a Nurse. One with a lot of experience. Best.
Thank you, good to know!
@cghernand Has anyone checked your SI joint (where the spine connects to the pelvis)? SI joint pain is very similar to sciatic pain and is often mistaken for sciatic pain. It can cause foot numbness and develop without a prior history of back problems. here is a link to a Google search on causes of SI joint issues without prior back problems:

@bjcobb Keep bugging them or get a second opinion if you are not satisfied.
