Watery eyes because of dust mite allergy?

Posted by larry68 @larry68, Feb 23 5:53am

We live in a 2600 sq.ft. dust bowl.I think since we built this house and moved in it stays dusty.Wife and i get into arguments about all the crud still piled up in the great room.I have had a watery left eye daily on and off and i think its dust mites messing with me.I am gonna try a eye wash solution today.Anyone else have watery eyes because of dust mite allergt or?

@larry68 further thought- hotel sheets are probably made of microfiber - bacteria and fungi love microfiber. If high end are of silk then that is not the cause. Always find and read labels!

You may research Demodex blepharitis, or just the mite themselves. Good luck, but if one has chronic sinusitis go slow at getting rid of them. Their death and waste backed up into my sinuses via my lacrimal duct, I'm guessing. I took 3 different antibiotics over the course of several months. Now dealing with some residual chest issues. I may have to have revision sinus surgery. Good luck!

Hi @larry68

I do what works for me, as I am allergic to so many things.
1) quick shower at night have clean hair on pillow, and other stuff washed off...
2) if my allergies and pollen is high: 3) I change my pillow case every night.
4) I put my pillow in the dryer with a dryer ball once a week.
5) I wash and semi dry my sheets ( because folding a wet sheet-not my idea of fun. I put in an extra large sealable zip lock bag and put in the freezer for a couple of days. Then I dry them.
Also, see an eye doctor an optometrist is a good starting place.

@jfn - will you explain more about the freezer and what this does for the sheets? What about putting the pillow in the dryer with a dryer ball?

Well, we all have little tiny “bugs” living on our skin. They are especially active on the eyebrows and eye lashes. Their purpose is to keep your eyes clean by eating dead skin.
So, no matter what kind of pillow case you have those happy little guys are on your face…

There are eye wipes you can buy to cleanse your lids, lashes and brows.

@lisalucier
It freezes things so they fall off easily in the dryer.

@lisalucier
The dryer ball will knock things loose in the dryer. Mostly dead skin.
