Surgical evaluation coming up for gastric sleeve

I had a gastric bypass, not a sleeve, but some of the same questions may apply. Here are a few things I would ask, maybe already on your list.
Surgery:
How long will the operation take?
Will I need to stay overnight in the hospital? (probably not)
What type of anesthesia will be used?

Recovery & Post-Op Care
- What can one expect for pain?
- What will recovery look like, 1-2 days, 1st week, etc?
- Dietary restrictions. Will there be a pre-op consult with someone on your care team about progression from clear liquids and liquids to blended foods, then to regular foods? They should also advise about liquid and protein requirements.
- What vitamin/supplements will be required post-op. Example B-12.
- Should you be concerned about diarrhea or constipation, and if so, what should you take?
- Should I be concerned about nausea, and if so, what should I take?
- Are there any prescriptions or over-the-counter meds that I should get prior to surgery?
- Any limitation on the amount of weight that can be lifted?
- Restriction on exercise?
- What follow up appintments will be scheduled?
- Do you need to change any of your current medications prior to surgery? Example: if on a blood thinner/aspirin, do you need to stop taking it prior to surgery?
And of course, warning signs, when should I contact the team? And who do I contact?

Make sure you have contact numbers if you have questions.

These are things typically covered in a pre-op appointment, but make sure your questions and concerns are answered.
