blepharospasms and Blepharitis

Posted by emer101 @emer101, Aug 26, 2011

I have had blepharospasms since 2004; the last two years I have had major vision problems with no answers except botox injections that do not completely stop the spasms; recently I've had a terrible time with my eyes and just found out today I have a condition called blepharitis. I am happy about it because it is the first time I've been given a name, reason, etc that is the blepharitis. I'd like to converse with other people who suffer with these conditions. Thank you.

I haven't had it for 20 years, but the way I discovered what my problem was, I fell down the stairs and broke 3 ribs because I had a spasm. Do you feel like your spasms have gotten worse over the years?

My neurologist has discussed DBS but I'm not to that point.

Hello, I have blepharitis. It was diagnosed on the side during my map dot fingerprint problems. Crusts would fall into the eye and damage the already very vulnerable cornea. Now I polish my eyelids two times a day. After waking up and before going to sleep. With tissues especially for this condition. It is costly but the blepharitis is under control now.

@lezzzlie sorry for my delayed reply. Nowadays I use cyclosporine and it is very succesful for me. Pain is gone. Took a few weeks to kick in I remember. (Using it for a while now). Drop in the eyes before sleep.

The blepharites is also gone, I believe as a side solution for the ointment I use - American brandname is GenTeal Tears Nighttime Ointment.
After the Cyclosporine I wait about 10 minutes, then I use the ointment ans also rub some on my eyelids.

During the day I sometimes still use normal OTC eyedrops for dry eyes, but hardly need to do this anymore. Maybe two, three times per day.

Works for me. Wishing you all the best!
