Birth Control to Suppress Painful Periods - WHAT NOW??
I’ve been on BC for 5 years straight skipping placebos so I have not menstruated since then. I take 1.5 Fe Junel 1 pill daily. I would pass out from pain, hallucinate and couldn’t walk or think during my periods which is why I got on them. I’ve asked every obgyn why this is happening and what is the cause since I don’t want to be on BC forever and they all say “some people just get them like thta.” Is that really the case? I can’t live if I wasn’t taking the BC. They said “it won’t be as bad when you start menstruating again but I did have 1 breakthrough bleeding that was absolutely horrible and had to call in for the week. 🙁 I don’t know what to do anymore

I am not a medical professional, but your story reminds me of my periods when younger. Suffered for years till it was discovered I had a tumor on the ovary caused by endometriosis. I had surgery, and after that on birth control to prevent recurrence.

Has your OB/GYN talked about it or tested for it?
Periods can be painful when I just had a life threatening event . I went to Ohio Health seen a OBGYN and was on Progestin then I receive Depo Vera. I also change my diet to more iron ( medium rare steak, seaweed, beets, spinach, and spring rolls). This was a great result for my body I also had pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Vitamin C was oranges, tomato's and strawberries. I also need to add more turkey and chicken in the future limit glucose. My periods have been lighter also dark chocolate with raisins and coconut
I used to have extremely painful periods. At eighty they are just an awful memory. I found out that my mother was given DES to stop her miscarrying again. She was kept in the hospital for a week and was injected with DES Diethylstilbestrol each day. Perhaps your mother was given this.
I’d explore to confirm everything is ok. I had very painful periods for years. I went on the pill at age 18 and that relieved it. I was hesitant to go off the pill, due to fear of the pain, but when I did go off after about 10 years, I no longer had the pain. What I did have by my mid 30’s was severe ovulation pain. This was due to small cysts on my ovaries, as found by ultrasound. So, I went back on the pill.
I’d see a good gynecologist. They can do tests to determine your situation.

I would ask your GYN to evaluate you for endometriosis and adenomyosis. Both conditions can cause severe period symptoms.
