What steps have you taken to prevent falls?

I recently purchased a rollator. It's wonderful. It allows me to walk without fear of falling, is easy to maneuver, and is affordable. With a doctor's prescription, Medicare will pay all or a portion of your purchase. I highly recommend the rollator.

@surechamp, check with your local senior center to see if they have chair exercises. They can help build strength and balance.

@hraka13 Thanks for your suggestion but I’m looking for balance exercises to do in my home as I have other health issues that makes it difficult for me to get out.

@surechamp, then I’d suggest searching online, like your healthcare provider website, to see if they have chair exercises.

I saw a video of a playground in China that had a large area covered with uneven rocks. Lots of old folks were walking on the rocks as a form of exercise that was intended to stimulate balance responses.
It sounds like your neighborhood is offering you a special opportunity!
(Nordic poles may be a good safety precaution.)

@edsutton, well, having fallen 3 times in 2 days they last time I walked on uneven pavement or rocks, I’ll stick with even pavement or grass. My knees will thank me.

@surechamp, I bought what's called a "Mini Trampoline for Adults - Compact Fitness Rebounder with Adjustable Foam Handle," Amazon carries them. I love it because you can do balance exercises.

@surechamp I’ve started following Tai Chi. The movements are slow, deliberate and don’t stress the joints. I feel it’s helping me with balance issues. A huge plus is that I can follow a practitioner on Utube at home and at any time. Find one you like and whose direction you can follow easily. Then just enjoy❤️

@surechamp Basically a rolling chair, not intended to be a wheelchair. You push it in front of you, often using its seat or the bag under it, to carry items for you. You then can use it as a chair when you tire. The company Drive makes a solid one that will last for years.
