I need fillings, a dentist started one but left a hole , another dentist did the rest, but wow Ive not had such bad tmj, the pain ....., couldnt open my mouth much it still hurts days later, the feeling in the ears of being blocked etc. I need more fillings but fear going back , I cant open my mouth that wide. and if they dont do the fillings properly..........

I was diagnosed 20 years ago, its bad dentistry and opening the mouth for it that i reckon has caused this , the pressure feeling and ear ache and as I call it face ache. I dont like taking to many pills for it as I had non alcoholic fatty liver there is no other dentist I can go to ( long story )

I cant get help from any dentist now , since I reported one for ripping me off she has put the word out ( lies no doubt) to all the other dentists. Cant get legal help because I cant afford it, one dentist filled a tooth ( long story ) before I knew what was going on , had pain ever since.

@tisme, hi.
this may not help you at all but
I see chiropractors after dental care. Sometime holding your jaw open for a long period of time can cause the TM joint to slip. I get instant relief from a adjustment, which usually lasts until my next dental appointment.
You may just swelling against the nerve that will subside. Sometimes the nerve is close to a filling and it may retract after a time.
Most dentists have professional ethics that would prevent them from causing you harm. Because they also have their reputations to protect, they are unlikely to spread rumors or lies about a patient's complaints among their peers.
Still, it is possible.
I hope you get help.

Once a few years ago I went ot the dentist for fillings and the dentist kept shooting me with numbing stuff but it would not numb up. Turns out he hsf done something that causes Trismus. I remember about 4 weeks later still having it and being totally over it so i took my hands and literally forced my mouth open, never had it since!

I had some cavities filled a few weeks ago and my jaw pain following that was so bad I had to make an emergency appointment with my masseuse. It finally got a little better but then one the teeth that had a filling got infected and needed a root canal. I had the root canal yesterday on the lower right side of my mouth. Had my mouth open for two hours and once the local anesthetic wore off I was in so much pain. The area around the tooth hurts a lot but my jaw and the joint are on fire. And I can’t do NSAIDs so ice and Tylenol and heat are all I’ve got. Doctors and dentists really have nothing to offer in terms of effective treatment. It’s awful. People avoid dental work but then end up requiring more dental work. It’s a vicious cycle. After this I’m going to be terrified to go through this again. It’s so painful. The tooth pain is manageable but the jaw pain feels like someone took a sledgehammer to my face! I need to look into more aggressive treatments of tmdd because this is such a chronic issue I deal with.

Get the dentist to use a block. It holds the jaw open instead of you.
Relax your jaw, put thumb on molars and gently pull down. It helps the jaw and muscles up and into your temple.
Hope this helps.
