Terrible head symptoms, making living so hard.
Hello everybody,
I’m Sam. Male, 19, i’m healthy, go to the gym everyday and am a college student. 150lbs 5’11. So for the past month i’ve had these terrible head symptoms that fluctuate in intensity but are mostly 24/7. The symptoms are:
- Constant head pressure in the back of my head and forehead.
- Buring feeling in head
- “Nausea/Poisioned” feeling in head that makes me feel like i’m dying (not from panic, but from how strong and disgusting it feels) feels like a toxic terrible feeling.
- Vertigo 24/7 like i’m on a boat
- Feeling stoned 24/7
- Terrible Depersonalization and derealization
- Numb to everything, no emotions
- Can’t do cognitive functions in school
-Random episodes of extreme lightheadedness. Feels like pre-syncope. I never actually faint. Feel like i’m leaving my body, not like dpdr, like a real scary feeling like im leaving reality. Feels similar to moments i’ve “greened out” on weed and moments ive had an intense nicotine buzz.
- Feeling on edge 24/7
- So hard to think, read, do math etc.
- Feel like my brain is swollen 24/7
-TERRIBLE brain fog literally feels like my brain is filled with cotton.
Those are my symptom. I’m on the brink of dropping out of school because of how hard this is. sometimes when the vertigo and “nausea” feeling are really bad, I have to take melatonin during the day just to escape it and go to sleep. Sleeping is the only time I feel good. When I wake up, I feel good for about 30 mins to an hour before the symptoms come in. They gradually worsen as the day goes on until the end of the day when I feel high on some hard drugs and like i’m gonna die at any second.
I’ve had a brain mri a year ago but i’m debating getting another soon. It is so bad. I’ve always had dpdr and brain fog but after a bad allergic reaction I got an epi shot at the ER that made me feel like I was gonna faint. It felt exactly like those dizzy episodes I get I listed in my symptoms. Then I was fine for a day or two, but then had the worst dizzy episode i’ve ever had that lasted an hour and left me feeling like this the past month.
I’ve had routine blood work that has been clean and got a full heart workup about a year ago and was good. Any ideas?? I don’t even have anxiety about this anymore, i’m just fed up. Please and thank you!!

I am so sorry that you are suffering with these alarming symptoms. When I felt lightheadedness, almost syncope, it was scary! When I got vertigo, nausea, and severe migraines, seemingly stemming from the back of my head, I was worried, anxious, and upset! Luckily, my family Doctor believed me, and referred me to the best, experienced, reputable Neutologist, in the big city, where I lived in a suburb. When I went to see the Neurologist, the signs that they discovered, warranted further investigations, so I was admitted to a major hospital, where the Neurologist, along with their team, came up with a probable diagnosis, after doing physicals, a Cat Scan, EEG, spinal tap, blood tests, and MRI scan! The highly respected Neurologist referred my case to one of the best, if not the best, Neurosurgeon in the United States. This ‘famous’ Harvard Trained Neurosurgeon, was the Chief of Neurosurgery at a well known hospital, and was Professor Emeritus, Head of Neurosurgery, at one of the nation’s best Universities! The reason why I mention this, is because it’s important that you seek help from the best, most reputable Neurologist that you can find, and arrange an appointment to see that Doctor. I was a young man, like you, when I had some of the symptoms, plus others, but, remarkably, like you, the sense that I felt miserable, and as a young man, that did not seem normal at all. Inflammation did play a part in the eventual diagnosis, that was given to me. I got the right diagnosis, and was given the right treatment! I am now nearly 80 years old, and have had a successful career, and a great family life! I have three grown-up Grandchildren! So, it paid off, for me getting the best Neurologist, who cared deeply about my well-being, and pursued investigating my symptoms, and signs, ending with a treatable diagnosis and treatment plan! Wishing you the best, in your quest, for an answer, to your troubling symptoms!

2 Reactions@tisme Tell me about it! My long term neurologist retired. So, I tried to book an appt. for the one and only Parkinson’s / Movement Disorders specialist in our area! The next appointment was 11 months away. Hundreds of baby boomers have retired, recently, to the touristy area that I have lived in for many years, so Neurologist appointments are hard to come by! Meanwhile, during that 11 month wait, i had symptoms that were very bothersome, that I thought were my Parkinson’s symptoms progressing. Walking had become wobbly and difficult fot me! I had big time balance problems. I had episodes of a room that I was in, spinning around! Those episodes duration were at least a half hour! I suddenly had incontinence, so I called my primary provider’s service. I was given a referral to a urologist! I had 5 falls, where I completely lost my balance, and had some injuries. By the time I got to see a neurologist, and explained what I’d been through, they did seem mildly concerned. The Neurologist ordered an MRI. Meanwhile, my Medicare Advantage coverage was dropped, along with millions of other people’s insurance. I applied for Medigap coverage right away, but didn’t get approval for a couple of months, because of an overload of applications. So, the MRI was scheduled for me, along with blood tests, ultrasound etc. during this interim period. The Hospital provider, where I live, told me that even though I had Medicare A and B, that because I didn’t have, at that time, a MEDIGAP approved policy in place, that BEFORE the MRI and ULTRASOUND and some blood tests could be performed, I would have to pay the 20% charge that Medicare does not pay! So, I had to come up with $270.00, for the MRI procedure, as an example! I paid the Hospital the 20% charges, plus several Doctor’s office visits! Altogether, I’ve paid out nearly $2000.00, to medical providers, during the interim period! After the MRI was done, and analysis completed, it turned out that I had several lacunar strokes!! These strokes fit my symptoms perfectly! Because I have been diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation, and have had several bad episodes, it is possible that one or more of the strokes, was a result of an Atrial Fibrillation episode. That news was devastating to me, to put it mildly. I called my Cardiologist’s office, the next morning, upon learning the news, and they set up an appointment for the following day! I was prescribed Eloquesstbj blood thinner immediately, and will be taking it for the next few months, with a Watchman scheduled to be implanted, in my heart!!
I’m going to need all the support, and luck, i can get, over the next few years, to get through all this!

3 Reactions@eschroeder I agree with many of these ideas. I have found relief from Migraine Associated Vertigo with botox, nerve blocks, medication, OT, and adjusting daily life by wearing sunglasses and ear plugs when I am very sensitive. You definitely need a Neurologist and Pain management specialist.
Good luck!
