Benign carcinoid tumor in bronchi tube

Posted by jessie1990 @jessie1990, Oct 30, 2025

Hi I've been diagnosed with a benign typical carcinoid tumor in my bronchi tube in right lung was found when I went to A&E with pneumonia back in July of this year I've had 2 bronchoscopys 2 biopys which showed benign carcinoid tumor I was sent for ct scan mri scan and pet scan pet scan was clear I was put under general anesthetic as my lung specialist said he might be able to remove tumor by going down my throat instead of haven surgery but didn't work but he was able to take 40% of tumor out as it was blocking my air way that's how pneumonia set in the 40% he removed also came back benign carcinoid 1 lymph node was removed and checked also clear now I need surgery to remove the rest I'm so confused as doctor said its a benign tumor then Google is telling me it's a low grade cancerous tumor but doctor nor lung specialist said anything about cancer just said its benign doesnt benign mean non cancerous and can any one tell me how surgery went thank you bless you all xx

@jessie1990 Jess, Most recent job was because of Covid, I had to become a housekeeper for a gigantic retirement/ nursing home community. I moved from Fl. to Ore. to be with family when Covid hit and there were almost no jobs to be had. If I am repeating myself at any point, ignore...lol
The grounds used to be a Catholic University campus. It is still owned by the Catholic Church (Sisters of the Names of Mary and Jesus). Some residents are retirees, while others are Sisters who live there still. I work for a specific group of Sisters (most of the time).
I have done several jobs in my lifetime. I worked clinic and hospital as an M.A. for a few years, but enjoyed being an ECE teacher, then a professional nanny the most. I wish I could go back to being with little people. I may try one more time.
As far as you going to an oncologist, did they just make an appt. for you without discussing the matter? If they did, I would have several questions. I was sent to one before my surgery, but she did absolutely zero for me. Basically just read my chart and checked my lymph nodes on my neck. Sometimes, they DO follow up with chemo etc. which is when I would expect you to be seen by one of them. But I would kind of doubt that in your case since, like you said, everything came back benign. Can you email someone on your medical team to enquire of the reason? I would have thought your follow-up would be x-rays or a CT in 3 months time. Maybe a nurse oncologist can order that ? A bit bizarre 🤔

@jessie1990 Thanks for asking!

I've been having some breathing problems, which appear to be asthma, but given my cancer history, I had a CT of the lungs. There didn't appear to be any cancer, but there is some airway disease. I'm feeling much better with a steroid inhaler and using an Aerobika.

I see that you will be having a scan in July. What type of scan will you be having?
