Has anybody had an implantable neurostimulator for chronic pain?

To zjandre - I had the trial for the neurostimulator made by St.
Jude bec no epidurals helped and I cannot take meds (big side effect
or no relief). This seemed like my last resort, so had the surgery to
put in the wires and battery pack. I had psyced myself up that I
finally would have the relief of my 8 - 9 back pain. I tried and tried
to make it feel that the stimulation shocks were dulling my pain - for
over a year I dealt with it where even after I shut it off at the high
density, my body began to feel it for up to 10 hours shut off. My pain
was still as bad, so finally relented to my 5th surgery and had it
removed. It is no better than a bit stronger TENS unit which never
worked for me either.
@ladyjane85Have had severe mid back pain for more than ten years. In the last three years it has been a 7 or 8 and is ruining my life. I am unable to do anything. I saw a spine and pain doctor for years. He tried everything he could think of, nothing helped. He finally turned me loose. That was a frightening experience knowing there was nothing anyone could do to help me. I finally asked him about the Boston Scientific Spinal Stimulator and he thought it might help me. So I contacted BS and met with them and the local neurosurgeon who installs the device. Everyone thought it might be a solution for me. I had the surgery almost a year ago
And the results were not what I had hoped for.
If I turn the stimulator up very high I can feel some diminution of the pain. But … my whole body vibrates and it is only tolerable for a short time. My hope was I could stop wearing a TENS unit 24 hours a day but now I have the TENS and the stimulator. Was hoping someone on. This site has found help.

@bailyboy

Was it placed in the correct spot? Having someone who knows where to put the electrode helps a lot.

@bajjerfan I had not thought about placement. The doctor who installed the device does most of these installations. Don’t know how to find someone else who could check the placemen but will try to figure that out. Thank you for the info.

I got a TENS unit from AUVON w electrodes. It gives a diagram to show, where you may want to place your electrodes for different parts of body in pain. That helped me a lot. They have it color coded even.
