Is my life really worth living?
I was doing okay when I was on bupropion and sertraline medication refills ran out the doctor wanted to see me before she would give me anything! Now I sit and ponder ways to not wake up so I can feel normal again instead of sad and useless! The only thing that makes me feel good is my miniature dachshund and two cats! I have absolutely zero energy and no motivation to do anything I literally have to force myself to do something like even washing my dishes! I don’t let my fur babies suffer in any way though!

I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad, I just don’t understand what your doctor is doing, you mentioned that you were doing alright on your medications but you have to see the doctor. If your appointment is a long wait then perhaps you can go to the hospital and see if they can give you a refill, you clearly need them and the doctor is cold and heartless leaving you feeling like this, please try to get help or let the doctor know how much you’re suffering, definitely find another doctor because this is unacceptable, I am happy that you have your furry babies to help you, they love you unconditionally and are often the best friends we can ever have.

1 ReactionYou are describing the feeling of hopelessness. It is an awful place to be. Is there a reason you can't go and see your shrink? I know that legally, they have to see clients every so often if prescribing medications. Maybe a telehealth appointment? I know that my two dogs got me through the absolute worst time in my life. I knew I had to get up, let them out, feed them and they provided unconditional love. I also had to make myself list things I was grateful to have. I also know that sometimes. in that hopeless state, that is difficult. I will tell you, that I am grateful for you and for your sharing this. Reading and conversing with people on this site has helped me so much. I am following several groups due to my own circumstances. If the meds helped, try and go see the doctor. Believe it or not, there are people that you are helping by sharing your story on here. Please keep us posted (I can only speak for myself and I want to hear how you are doing.)

7 ReactionsWhat the doctor said is normal before refill. They want to see you in person, to see how you are doing on the meds, is it working, are you able to lead a normal life, able to go out, etc.
You will be fine, focus on the present and be with your furbabies. 🙂
I had breast cancer a few years ago, went to majority of my procedures alone, felt depressed most days, high anxiety, stopped going out, stopped talking with friends and family. What kept me going is I could work remotely.
I do not take depression or anxiety med, though doctors have suggested, I said No. The issue with any drug is, when it runs out, the withdrawal, even a few days has terrible side effects.
I found a new therapist, that prescribed Alpha Stim. Its FDA approved. I use it for anxiety but also helps with depression, insomnia. It helps me to not lose control and calm my brain, thoughts and emotions. I am on a 2nd daily treatment with many side effects. When I want to quit, I use the Alpha Stim.
I watched my dad push through most of his life, physically handicapped and rarely replying on medication until he had no choice. Then he changed, became more reclusive. I try to be like my dad, as much as I can when he wasn’t taking meds. Its hard.

3 Reactions@scatterbrained1, yes, your life is worth living. Your fur babies need you and you need them. As @malebreastcancer47 said, it is normal to be seen by your prescribing doctor before getting refills. However, usually these appointments are booked before you run out.
In some jurisdiction, pharmacists are able to extend the prescription to cover the period between running out and your next appointment.
When is your next appointment with your doctor? Can you see the pharmacist where you filled your prescription? How are you doing today?

5 ReactionsI have been out of medication for several months now which is why I feel I have sunken into this gloom and doom mode. The pharmacy won't extend anything after this much time has passed. I have my sister encouraging me to get my doctor. I had an appointment today at 10:00 I missed the appointment, but have it rescheduled for February 5th. So today how am I doing, well I received in the mail from my niece cremation ashes of my nephew who was run down by a speeding motorist. Well needless to say I am not quite ready to open that box just yet! Other than that, I am doing okay I guess as well as can be expected I am also facing eviction, but I am applying for rental assistance.

5 ReactionsDo you have a church or a good minister with background in depression. God bless you and thank you for sharing. Depression is horrible so many people don’t understand . Hope you can find spiritual and well being with yourself! For me it’s a wonderful understanding of purpose of life. Rich Warren has a free religious mediation on line . It’s wonderful! God bless you and yours!

2 ReactionsSorry to hear. What might be causing zero energy?
Could you write specific details down and think of things that may help
before seeing a doctor. They should give you options that you can choose.
If medications make you feel worse they can be changed.
I've had 2 stage 4 cancers and now heart condition and can
relate to depression. Our two cats and dog plus wife have kept me going.
I wish you could find hope and feel better.

1 ReactionI also live on the hairy edge of how do I not wake up ever again. The only reason I’m alive is what dying would do to my family. So, if living is solely dependent on your furry friends, then hang on to that. Someday both of us will want to live for ourselves and we have to keep pushing to that point.
