Shingles is there any help?
In January 2024 I had a total burn-out. I check myself in at Emergencies. At the Hospital I (84years)had a heart attack and then a cardiac arrest. I am super fine now but I was left with Shingles on my scalp on the left side. The doctors ( Cardiologist and Pulmonologist) who treated me called the "Dermatologist" she did not look at my scalp nor did she touch me, but said they just keep on treat me with what ever they started. I was in tears it was soo painful and it seemed to get more painful after each treatment twice a day. They send me home. The Pulmonologist visited me every time when I booked myself in to the Hospital. When I booked myself in the 5th time because the pain was excruciating he immediately said thats Herpes Zoster (Shingles) Did he ask Dr Google? He put me on Lyrika but after nearly 2years we decided to stop. If the pain/itch is very uncomfortable I take 1 Synaleve Capsule at night. In between I went for Acupuncture but no success.
Thats my story, can someone help me ?

It sounds like you are suffering from post herpetic neuralgia, pain from nerves damaged by the shingles virus. Gabapentin is the usual prescription for this, and I'm surprised it's not offering relief. Talk with your doctor about possible alternatives.

3 ReactionsTry organic, hexane free castor oil in amber dark glass bottles like Queen of Thrones Castor oil on Amazon. Helps with pain as well as dryness and possibly the blisters when they dry out. Hope this helps and is a good suggestion for you. I have had shingles and now have eczema and painful and burning skin on face. This castor oil has really helped.

Have you heard of B vitamins helping with repair/improvement of the nerve damage?

Having low blood levels of vitamin C is associated with an increased risk post-herpetic neuralgia — the nerve pain that can persist after an outbreak of shingles. I subscribe to consumerlabs.com for all things vitamin. It''s worth it - to me . No B vitamins mentioned associated with shingles. Only vitamin C and not oral either, only shots. Google it - consumerlabs.com is a trustworthy independent resource for evaluating health, wellness, and nutrition products like supplements, known for its rigorous, unbiased testing, transparent methods, and commitment to not accepting fake claims. I only take supplements recommended and tested by doctors not vitamin companies.
Hi all I try but cant go without Lyrica75. I got a months supply Lyrica75 first week I take 1 in the morning and one at night as before, then only one at night for a week. Then I asked for Lyrica 25.
for a week I take 1 Lyrica75 at night and the next night 1 take a Lyrica25 . When the Lyrica75 where finish I kept on with 1 Lyrica25 at night and I'm now much better, I still have 3 red spots on my scalp, sometimes they itch terribly, specially when I am depressed.

I just found on consumerlabs.com the topic of
B12 shots for nerve pain. I was searching for "shingles " before and found C shots. I will paraphrase. No, B12 shot not for shingles -for peripheral neuropathy related to diabetes.
