Two Kinds Lung Cancer and dealing with other issues

Hello out there! I have been here before: Need to catch up here, I have two kinds of Lung Cancer. Right Lung is plain old cancer/Left Lung is mesothelioma. I also have Macular Degeneration. Was really sick the whole month of March. Coughing all the time. Day trip to hospital, Received a Zpac, to take, helped some. EMT checked my throat. Thankfully no cancer there. Another Zpac to take. Feel somewhat better but still fill like I have a cold. Having a Pet Scan on May 3rd.Results May 10. May 4 a big blood test. Results May 11 at Kidney Doc. Just feel "Down. I also have a book to write, no energy for that right now. Maybe it's too much rain, not much sun! Don't know what, why or???. I seem to be sleeping ok, but still tired. any idea's? I just turned 84 and dealing with all this stuff. I was diagnosis January 2016. No treatment of any kind yet. and also no pain. Am fortunate for several t(hings.

esHello everyone (shortshot80) today is the Friday 13, I will be having surgery on Monday October 16, to have a port installed in my chest. Only in the hospital a few hours. should be out by noon or so. I also have on Monday a visit to my new primary care Doc. See how that goes. The older I get the crazyer I get. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers as I travel through the maze! Nancy

shortshot80} Here again, Having trouble breathing, Had a cat scan last Monday which showed I have fluid in my lung again. I sound like I have a cold, but that is not the case. I don't know when or if that can get the fluid, but I sure hope so. I was diagnosis January 22, 2016 with the two kinds of lung cancer. One just plain, Left lung is Mesothelioma. Have been pretty good for the past time until the last four weeks. I do not have any pain, but I really have trouble breathing. Is this the way this disease works?? During the surgery on January 2/2016 they "glued my lung back into place. What happens when the fluid pushes the lung up out of place. I have appointment Monday, but Monday seems to be a long way off for me today. I've called but no one has called back as yet. Just wanted to voice some concerns today. I seem to breathe when sitting, but doing anything seems to make me out of breath. So am sitting. Nancy

Hi Nancy: I am delighted that you are talking with us at Connect. I only wish I would have had this amazing Connection 10 years ago when I was diagnosed with a 3cm tumor in my upper left lung lobe and PF in my lower left lung lobe. I never dreamed I could have such
a crazy disease...and I certainly never dreamed I would be alive 10 years after thorasic VATS surgery.
I can somewhat understand your pain. My pain was so bad prior to lung cancer surgery, it was difficult to stand or sit. I shortness of
breath was extremely difficult and beyond fear. My chocking cough was crazy scary, because I feel like I could die from coughing, so
long and so hard.
You really need a team of professionals looking at you and/or records. Are you being seen at Mayo Clinic? Have you considered this
an option? Will your doctors connect with Dr Stephen Cassivi at Mayo Clinic...the Head Professor of Thorasic Medicine at Mayo Clinic
who loves, loves. to teach? It maybe worth a call to Mayo general number (507z0 284-251, ask for Dr Stephen Cassivi's appointment secretaries, just to talk ...if you think this is something you really want to do, please let me know and I will help you get through, if you

Once diagnosed, doctors believe I had lung cancer for more than 2 years. Once I was properly diagnosed and properly treated my quality of life was greatly improved! I now enjoy life everyday, I smell the roses and appreciate their beauty and scent. I am stronger
because Lung Cancer has become my blessing, and I am grateful for just about everyone and and many things that I perhaps was
just too busy before my diagnosis.

Get out side, walk, move, walk, more...I challenge my ability to cross the street by watching the street lights count down the time they
give people to cross a street. We all belong outside. After my diagnosis, I crept heel toe, heel toe, but with the proper treatment I am
grateful to be alive. I take one day at a time. I practice breathing to relax my nervous system. I am no longer fearful and I am strong.
I have purpose...all because of lung cancer.

So lets stay connected so we can use our lung cancer experiences to help other who are afraid of the many challenges this disease
brings with it. And if you have a moment, YouTube my TedX Talk "Beating the Odds and Summiting Kilimanjaro with One Lung" it's only 14 minutes in length, but some say packed with a great message.

You deserve a big hug for your strength and willingness to speak out! So again, lets stay CONNECTed! We are here for you and each other.

shortshot800 Hi Linda, In October 2015 I had a really bad cough, went to EMT, they xray said I had pneumonia. Primary care wanted a Cat scan which showed I had fluid in my left lung. The doc's removed fluid on Oct 27....Again Nov, 29....My heart doc wanted me to get a Lung Doc who sent me to a surgeon (Lung) who operated on January 22, 2016. They put a two inch * four foot plastic hose in my Left Lung and told me I have MESOTHELIOMA IN MY LEFT LUNG.... And in my right lung I had plain old lung cancer.. Lund Doc sent me to doc to see who is 65 miles away. Excellent doc and I like her. W ell THE RADIATION DOC ID FIVE SESSIONS OF RADIATION ENDING ON JUNE 15, 2017. ......ON OctobeR 5, I ended up in the hospital not being able to breathe.THERE FOR FIVE HOURS. CAT SCAN SHOWED that ,my right lung looked like someone had shot a "shotgun" in my lung. SO....my doc figures that the RADIATION DID NOT KILL THE CANCER, IT HAD SHATTERED THE CANCER. i AM SO BLESSED I DO NOT HAVE ANY PAIN!!!!!!! Hoever I will have a port installed on Monday Morning. Depending on the Last test that is being performed on the tissue they took in 2016, will depend on what kind of chemo I will get. Possible immune therapy. .... No I have not concidered Mayo Clinic, not that they are not qualified, but I'm happy here in Oregon and am 84 years old and do not want to travel. Next weekend my wedding anniversary is for our 67 years. Nancy

Walked one block to the postoffice, & small church for bible study, lady asked me what was wrong. Told her breathing problems, she pulled out a chair and told me to sit Got a ride home after church. This was last Wed, a week ago. Guess I'll stay home till things get better. Nancy

shortshot80) Hi everyhone, I had my port installed on Monday. Hour 1/2 ride to the hospital. Arrived at 6:15 Was escorted into my room to get ready for surgery. It was just a little short of a hour and I had my port. They glued it in. Now still waiting for the cancer doc to get the results of the last test of the tissue that was taken in the surgery of my lung in2016. Also on last Monday I met and visited with my new pdrimary doc. Very nice visit. I guess mainly my cancer doc will be my doc probably for the rest of my live. Still having some sleep problems. I seem to wake up at 2 am, not able to go back to sleep. Working on the answer for night . Will keep you posted. Nancy

(shortshot80) Hi everyone, I had my port installed last Monday. Was in the hospital just about one hour. Doing okay with it. I also met with my new primary doc. Very nice and he is close. I have not heard from my Cancer doc is waiting for test results to see what kind of chemo that is good for me. I am not a person who likes to wait for anything. I like almost "instant" but wheels turn slowly sometimes. Nancy
