Pseudomonas … to treat or not ?
I was diagnosed with Pseudomonas and Bronchiestasis 2 years ago. At the time my dr treated me with 3 weeks of Levaquin without follow up sputum. It was diagnosed with a bronchoscopy. I now have a BE specialist and he says there’s no reason to treat it because it has colonized and will always be there. My cultures show heavy growth. Thoughts on treating or not treating ?.

@robot I use the aerobika but what’s the manometer
@robot I have an aerobika but am not familiar with a monometer
@sharonednaramsey its a small measuring device that fits on the aerobika to help visual how strong to blow into it. I learned about it from respiratory therapist at National Jewish Health. I had been blowing way too hard & using neck & throat muscles that were unnecessary to clear my lungs. Google aerobika with manometer to get a picture & description of it.
I am colonized with both that andStenotrophomonas maltophilia. SXT (trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole) worked for me. I have only been treated when it has been on the upward side of moderate into heavy and I have symptoms. I have also been treated for pseudomonas AERUGINOSA. LEVOFLOXACIN has worked for me. Again I am only treated if I have symptoms and the sputum samples are moderate into heavy. I am colonized with both. They both like living in warm moist lungs. I send a sputum sample monthly to my doctors UT East Texas Tyler.
