Has anyone had a low platelet count of just 1?

Posted by johnbowrey @johnbowrey, May 19, 2024

I developed a bleeding mouth problem a few days ago followed quickly by leg rashes and bruising. Blood test gave doctors a surprise as it was only ONE … put on immunoglobulin drip (8 bottles) then a cocktail if pills (haven’t got names yet) and next day I was up to a count of FIVE. Hospital staff say they’ve not seen such a low count. Anyone else out there with similar? Any advice welcome.

Had low platlet count, bone marrow as not producing due to liver stone blockage.
It caused low iron which lead to low platelet count.

There is natural stuff on the market to get your counts up. Blood support sold on Amazon.

Dont go thru a bone marrow test because it's not needed and just painful and costly, there is a cause and meds will be given anyway if its bone marrow not producing on it's own. Meds will tell in time if you need to continue with them or if the bone marrow will restart it's self and keep producing as normal.

Good luck everyone and remember be in charge of your health. I had ER doctors tell me I was dying and had several issues all before a single test was done. None of it was true.

The more I questioned the more they changed their united chant of what was wrong with me. The more I was right about my own health the less they spoke.

You know your body best, always stay in charge. Especially since you deal with doctors who don't even know you these days. Best of luck and good health to all. The less doctoring the healthier you stay.

@jacks90 Hello I am JAK2 + and have PV Taking HU 5X a week. I’m curious that you stated low iron can lower your platelets? My iron is extremely low from My phlebotomies but it hasn’t effected
My platelets what so ever, sadly! They fluctuate so I have to keep playing with dosage to keep them under 500. Some PV people don’t get the high platelets, I wish I was one of them lol but I deal. I also applaud you for saying the bone marrow test is your choice and usually not necessary. I choice not to have it and my doctor agreed treatment and diagnosis would not change from how ever the results came back. Your lab results will always dictate your meds and treatment and people need to be brave and ask questions.

When my son was diagnosed with Leukemia, his platelets count was 7. He received blood transfusions and eventually had a bone marrow transplant.

Hi @wakop I just realized you posted a new discussion regarding your son’s BMT. I’ll pop over to that comment to speak with you.
