Pain in leg muscles, tendons, and knees after Bilateral PE on Eliquis
One month after massive bilateral PE and taking 5 mg twice daily. Experiencing constant and continual pain in legs, mainly behind both knees, in tendons, and some muscle flare ups. Have had two ultrasounds and a CT scan on both legs since I was diagnosed June 6 and they are negative. My D Diemer is .43 and all vitals strong and regular. Echocardiogram shows no strain on heart. We have ruled most everything else out. No trauma to legs, no cuts, bruises or strains. Is this related to the Eliquis? My local hematologist wants me on it for another 5 months, I won’t be able to make that unless this subsides. Anyone else out there having this issue? Recommendations?

So true when you said we know how our body feels yet when you try to tell the doctor that they always seem to have a generic answer.” it’s not the medication that’s causing that they don’t have side effects like that” yet you go on this site and you see so many people that have issues with legs, stiffness pain After being on Eliquis. I thought I was going to be able to get off it after a year of taking it, but now I was told to continue on it, which isn’t cheap.
@ruth36 At this point I am not on any blood thinner, as it was thought my clots were caused by something no longer present. However when I saw my doctor two weeks ago I listed the side effects which I had (some still have) and suggested he check out this site. Moreover I said that if I had to go on a blood thinner again I'd hope it would be one unrelated to Eliquis, even warfarin with all its required tests and avoidance would be better. All along this path of getting better, my mind kept going back to my last day in the hospital, and how wonderful I felt. The day after that I started taking Eliquis. My guess is its the best for removing clots, an it did for those that reminaded. The original massive clot was remove surgically. All. in all, he is an excellent physician and I am alive!
