Long Covid Ear fullness pressure anyone else ??

Posted by jostrowski74 @jostrowski74, Oct 1, 2025

Hi I’ve had this ear fullness and pressure for 10 months now and it’s not going away I’ve seen multiple drs ENT drs and all are confused. I have one ENT who is nice and trying everything to help me . Steroids help a little that’s why I’m thinking Covid inflammation but it never goes away. Anyone else have any luck getting better with this Covid issue ?
Thanks
Jeralyn

@jostrowski74
My daughter and I used an antiviral called Nexavir, a very old, and safe drug. It has helped us.

SAME. I had covid over Christmas of 2023. My ears were badly inflammed during the illness. My left ear has never been the same. The pressure pulsates, always feels plugged. I can hear my breathing, chewing, and it sounds like a speaker going in and out. It's awful. I can't sing anymore. Been to two ENT's. Had a hearing test, CT, and cameras shoved up my nose into the tubes. And no one has any clue what is going on. I just want it to stop!

I get severe ear pressure as well and I bought a tool from Amazon called ear pressure tool it almost looks like a syringe that you use on babies to clear their nose out. It is giving me relief. I use it several times a day. I take it with me if I go anywhere. I hope this helps.

I actually found out that I have a rare ear issue called superior canal dehiscence. Will prob have to get surgery for it.

Ear pressure has been an issue for me throughout my experience with long Covid. It has gotten moderately better and worse over time. Recently, I made a discovery. I had been largely, although not intentionally, gluten-free. My baker husband kindly made me wholemeal scones, the only thing he could make that would be allowed on my anti-inflammatory diet. I had just one a day for four and my ear pressure, fatigue, and brain fog got markedly worse. A few days after I stopped eating all gluten, I got back to my new “normal “ energy level and the ear pressure is slowly reducing. I’m still deciding whether it is good news – something I can control – or bad news – that I can’t eat things I love.

To all those suffering from a feeling of fullness in ears (and lack of hearing): I have suffered from hearing loss for years. (That's a different story although worth noting that my ears have been troublesome in the past.) However, since beginning my LongCovid journey new problems similar to those described here have developed. I've found one technique that seems to help the fullness/lack of drainage: an onion poultice! Apparently it is an old remedy (google it). Apply a heated onion, wrapped in cheesecloth, to the affected ear. I am amazed at the amount of 'stuff' that drains from the offending ear. (I lie on the onion compress.) In my case the discharge is rather thick and yellow ~(sorry) ~ not sure what it is, but the ear feels better and I can hear after a treatment. I now do this whenever the ear seems to fill up (although I do still see my ENT who also suctions my ear, prescribes drops, etc.) Can't see any down side (except for the pillow smelling onion-y!). I suppose a heated compress might achieve the same results, but choose to believe the onion has some sort of special properties. Best of luck.

I'm sorry to hear the nightmare you're also dealing with.
also have the ear fullness as if the tubes are so unbelievably full with pressure and it's been over 2 years that I have not been able to hear right also losing more hearing.
've tried very medication and tricks and nothing has even remotely made any form of difference. It's A NIGHTMARE!
Do you also have the horrible head pressure that feels as if a balloon is going to pop?
I'm getting worse by the day and it's destroyed my life.
From time to time, I also feel a little pocket of air the pops through the ear.
Sometimes the ear pain gets hard to handle.
Easiest way to currently put it with LC today, it's like having serious flu & pneumonia all at the same time x 10, and doesn't go away just intensifies worse time to time.
It seems as if there isn't anyone to help most of us and I'm not getting any help in my area and have tried everything and I'm extremely sick.
I'm praying for you and hope you get answers!
