Sinus issues and allergies after COVID

It's almost 5 years ago that I lost my sense of smell and taste. I had a C-scan, and allergy testing by an ENT, who told me there was no reason these senses couldn't return some day. I've also tried essential oils and acupuncture. About 3 years ago, I could briefly smell vanilla extract. Months later, coconut in a cookie, and I almost cried! Nothing since.

@katpetlover Yes, I have had them (sinus issues after never having them prior to covid), and they seem to affect mucus production in my throat. I have been for serum (blood) testing and prick testing and nothing shows as allergies, but it sure feels like something in that regard. I have also had countless sinus CTs and laryngoscopies, which apparently don’t show anything abnormal. I hope some day we get answers, but this type of symptom, based on research, seems to hinge on mast cell issues and auto immune responses from repositories of virus.

Hopefully, studies and research will shed some light on this, as well as therapeutics and or medicines that are effective in clearing these repositories, if it is proven that they play a role in persistent symptoms/illness.

I, myself am searching for relief - so no, your husband is not alone - I wish I had some thing to tell you to try, but I have been through many classic remedies (flonase, saline rinses, etc.) and unfortunately, for me they only seemed to make things more irritated.
