false alarm for me

Hi guys....just wanted to follow up on my scenario. While having a hiatus hernia op the surgeon notice what he thought might be an embolism on the descending thoracic aorta. He said he saw the aorta was 'pouching' out and was not where he would expect it to be situated. He strongly suggested i get a CT scan to investigate.
Got the CT scan. He rang quickly to discuss.

Turns out that it is not an embolism. He said the aorta had moved from the side of my body to the front of my body probably due to my age (72) and my height shrinking. And it was folded forward because arteries, like the rest of an older body, lose tightness and become more flabby (not his words but my interpretation)!! So a false alarm. But very happy he was savvy enough to check.

Just in case anyone else has a similar scenario figured i would post to add to the information this group has collected. Been so grateful for all the posts here.

Happy new year to one and all....here's hoping we are all lucky enough to have love and peace in our lives. Sending a 2026 hug 🙂

Interesting. I've never heard of that but it makes sense.

Glad you dodged that bullet. Sounds like you had a good surgeon.

Happy 2026!
