@carroljeffries I know how you feel. I received the same diagnosis' in 2019 after many years of Hep C. I did get cleared of the virus in early 2020 and have been dealing with various issues both related and unrelated to my liver disease. However, despite the shock of hearing end stage liver disease, I have been able to stay relatively healthy and my doc says my liver function is good. Hoping you and your doc keep you in relatively good health too. Some people live many years with our diagnosis. Wishing you the very best possible journey.

@parrot53 thank you for the positive words. It really does help since it sounded like a death sentence at the time. I'm trying to get all my financial affairs in order just in case.
@truthfinder - I moved your post here because I thought it would be the best way for you to connect with the most members on this site who are familiar with fatty liver who might weigh in on your not seeming to be followed or treated for the fatty liver found in your 2024 ultrasound.
Please meet, if you've not already, @mydogsbestfriend@goldendoodle@oliviab911@jlharsh@rllh5403 and others who may have some thoughts on how their doctors have proceeded after fatty liver was identified on imaging for them or a loved one or about management of this condition in general.
What did your doctor recommend back in 2024 about addressing the fatty liver with diet and exercise? Were you given specifics or referred to exercise or nutrition specialists for consult?
My husband has fatty liver and my daughter-in-law’s mother has what she says is auto-immune liver disease that has progressed to cirrhosis. Also, I saw a liver doctor a couple years ago at Mayo Clinic Rochester for a general assessment of my liver function. Needless to say, I am trying to learn all I can. It sounds like your doctor’s advice of diet and exercise are the best thing for you to improve how your liver is working. I have learned Mediterranean diet, cardio & strength training, healthy body weight, no smoking and watch the alcohol.
Doing all I can as soon as I can with lifestyle recommendations is what I can do. You mention changes in stool color that coincide with improved liver enzyme numbers. I believe the liver produces bile and the gall bladder stores it. I don’t know for sure and I am not a medical professional. I am wondering if your liver function is getting better and the changes you notice are actually a sign of improvement. I don’t know, but I have experienced other physical changes I have assumed meant decline then eventually figured out it was my body working through getting better. Our bodies are amazing if we give them the space to heal!
You mention seeing two GI doctors and if it were me, I would make sure to report what you are doing to improve your diet and exercise along with what you notice changing in your symptoms.
I notice Mayo Clinic has a significant amount of up-to-date information about fatty liver. You may want to spend some time reviewing it if you haven’t already. The information is quite comprehensive and may help explain where your Stage 2 fibro scan fits, what is within your power to do to help your liver, and even what type of testing is done at Mayo Clinic.

Asa a satisfied patient at Mayo Clinic I highly recommend them for a comprehensive assessment of your liver. You can use this link to make an appointment: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
You mention you are have concern but your doctors do not seemed worried. Is your concern specifically about recent change in stool color, or what specifically is your concern? What would you like to know from your doctors?
I have been dx with Fatty Liver Disease by US. My liver enzymes become elevated whenever I take Tylenol so I stay away from it. I have also been told I have large gall stones but no one is mentioning doing anything about them. I try low carb low red meat high veg.
Anyone have experience with hall stones?

Hi, and Welcome to Connect. I am a liver and kidney transplant recipient. I want to commend you for avoiding Tylenol if it is causing elevated liver enzymes! We are all different. That is something that I have not experienced beause I was told that I could 'safely' take Tylenol if I didn't go above the reccommended dosage.
I am curious about your mention of gallstones because "no one is mentioning them". Might I ask who said that you have large gallstones? If I were you, I would go to that medical professionsa and ask, "What that means?" What or If anything needs to be done about them?" Does that sound like something that you can do?

@rosemarya Thank you for getting back to me. The large gall stones were seen on both X-rays and MRI’s of my lumbar spine. Recently dx with Polymyalgia rheumatica with a lot of back pain… therefore the scans. Both rheumatologist and spinal surgeon told me that I have large gall stones. But no further discussion of them. I’m
Currently working on getting more consults on spinal issues as spinal surgeon is recommending major surgeries.
Hope all is going well with your kidney and liver transplants. That’s a lot to deal with.

@bthorn122 - nice to meet you, and I'm glad you've connected with @rosemarya and others in this discussion about non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. As you may have heard, the name of this disease has also now changed to be called Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD).
