@rosemarya My knee recovery is coming along. Today I have not taken any narcotics, and I only took one yesterday. I think I will need one tonight though. My knee still hurts of course, I think it will for a long time but it is a tolerable hurt which is all you can ask for.
The musical group who played at the wedding never did a slow song! I commented to my daughter and she said she had provided them with a list that included slow music but maybe because there were so many on the dance floor enjoying the current music they just stuck with it. She really did not notice she was so busy flitting around, but I think I should have said something to her then so she could speak to the musical group. As a result I think all of the people of my generation and some even a few years younger, left early.
We did get to really enjoy our son and his girlfriend though. I like her and we did some fun things together. They of course did some things without us, which was fine. We can’t keep up with a couple of 30 somethings.
Even more disappointing to me was that the photographer did not get any full family, posed shots. That was supposed to be done before the reception actually started but there was a delay in setting things up so it did not happen. My husband and I both feel the photographer should have pulled us aside at some point for that but she did not. We are both disappointed. We paid for the photographer and to not even get a nice family picture was a real disappointment. We did get a somewhat candid shot of the six of us, which is pretty informal but it’s better than nothing. If I could figure out where it is on my IPad I would include it! It’s on my phone but I thought it would be here via ICloud by now.
I am having a runny nose and sneezing a lot now myself. I hate it when I get colds, they seem to stick around forever. It was frigidly cold here today too. I expect to get back to my club and the pool within the next two days but the thought of the pool makes me shiver! I had communications with one of the others in the class today and she said it wasn’t too bad.
JK
@contentandwell JK, I hope that you continue to make progress. I try to keep in mind that even 'slow' progress is good:-)
I am recovered from my cold. I think it seemed extra long because we doing the preparations to have our kids in for our family Christmas here at our house. The afternoon came and went too quickly! Now my husband and I are on a more relaxed pace, and all the shopping and decorating is already finished. We will go to Christmas Eve service at his church, and Christmas Morning at mine.
Merry Christmas.
Rosemary
So glad your cold is better have a merry christmas and a happy new year
Thanks:-) Me too. I am fortunate to not have the heavy congestion and stomach bug that is hitting our area. However, I take precautions as soon as I feel something coming on, which is something that many people do not do. I also gave myself extra time because we were having family Christmas here at our house this past Sunday.
Glinda, ( Can I call you that? Is that your name?), Do you have to be extra-extra careful since your transplant because it was a cold that caused your heart failure? Or is your new heart not as sensitive to that?
Rosemary
Yes you can call me glinda and yes I am extra extra cautious and I do always take extra extra precautions at all times I even get strange looks and nasty comments from some people on the city bus because i wear a mask year round but i also get more people curious about why i wear the mask and rhey ask me about it and I tell them my story getting sick really scares me especially a cold
@glinda, What a great opportunity to promote organ donation!
Gotta run, I'll check back later tonight:-)
Rosemary
@glinda, Several weeks ago when I was grocery shopping I passed a man and his wife several times in the aisles. He was wearing a mask. We were stuck in a crowded aisle, and I asked him if he was a transplant recipient. To my surprise, he replied that he had received a heart transplant in July of this year! He thanked me for saying something and we had a very interesting visit. He was thrilled to meet another transplant recipient! I did invited him to join the Mayo Connect discussion.
Rosemary
@rosemaya 39, I'm glad to here that he was happy you asked about the mask and if he was a transplant patient and you invited him to join the group. I hope he does. I met a young man today that asked me the same question as to whether I was a transplant patient and if I was immunosuppressed as his mom just had a kidney transplant and i was surprised that he would recongnize why I was wearing a mask
@glinda, Glinda, That is neat! I think it is amazing how many of 'us' are out there!
My husband thinks that I am being 'nosey' when I ask people if they have had a transplant. I only do this when I see them wearing a transplant t-shirt, or green donate life bracelet, and occasionally a mask. I try to ask in a caring manner, and I have never had a negative response. How do you 'feel' when somebody (like the man today) who sees you with a mask, asks that question?
Rosemary
Hi @contentandwell
I've been thinking about you as well. I hope all is going well in your recovery.
