Gabapentin caused me to wake up in the middle of the night planning my suicide. I do get some weird reactions at times. Every fibromyalgia medication I have tried, I have had a negative reaction to. The only thing I can do is take a milder opioid and ride around in my wheelchair! It works for me. Each person has to find what works for them. Good luck and God bless!!
Update to my comments on gabapentin. I was previously supportive but now rescind my recommendation. FTR, I was prescribed it after a broken shoulder and torn hamstring at 300 mg 3X day. After my recovery I noticed it was helping with my restless legs so I continued at 300 mg at night after Dr.'s approval. So far so good from March '25 until the last six weeks or so; I would be walking along fine, then feel as if I were sideways all of a sudden. I fell one night (in the dark - yes, I should have nightlights) and during my appointment to remove stitches, asked the Dr. if gabapentin could be causing the dizzy/sideways spells and he said yes ABSOLUTELY. I am now off the gabapentin and my equilibrium seems to be returning to normal. Dr. recommended I use additional Tylenol at night to help with restless legs, which I have done sometimes. Truthfully, if I am more active during the day the restless leg issue is reduced. So YEAH, my original wariness about gabapentin has turned out to be well-placed. I did not suffer withdrawal symptoms, and I feel so bad for those of us on this forum who have. All by way of saying, gabapentin ain't all it's cracked up to be.
