What cholesterol med instead of crestor
I was put on Kevzara which raised my ldl (141) and triglycerides(155) total c (217) My GP put me on 10 mg crestor. Slowly increasing muscle pain (in neck and back) (weak legs) until after 2 weeks I stopped for 2 days, started back by splitting the pills to 5mg and taking every other day. No good , pain returned. Stopped for 3 days, feel pretty good today.
So, what alternative is there that's not going to make this come back ? And being I'm on a biologic allready. Repatha is out.

Hi @ronludington
I see that @gloaming has provided a link listing a variety of cholesterol treatments. I am tagging @marielynn who has commented about taking Kavzera and having inherited high cholesterol, and may have helpful information.
I have had problems with cholesterol treating medications and am finally doing well. Not only are my numbers doing good, they are under control using treatments I have previous tried and said ‘never again’. @gloaming provides a good list in his above comment.
My understanding is rosuvastatin is stronger than other statins at the same dosage, and it also has a longer half-life. It finally worked for me taking 5mg two times per week, a schedule my prescribing doctor told me is protective because there is some in your body all the time. It takes 4 days to get out of your body.
Before giving up altogether on rosuvastatin you may want to consider giving it another try. You could talk to your doctor about taking it two times a week, but only after you stay off of it long enough to get it out of your system for a bit, maybe 30 days. Another thought, recent recommendations are to take multiple drugs each at lower dosages to avoid side effects. Regardless of what you decide about rosuvastatin, this just may work for you. Your doctor will be able to help steer you towards the right mix for your unique situation.
Have you talked to your doctor that prescribed Kevzara about your high cholesterol? Has you GP recommended other options?
@jlharsh , that was actually my thoughts.... to get clear (as you suggested 30 days) and try again. But I did.nt know 2x a week might work.
I havnt talked with either Dr as yet. I'm pretty sure my rheumatologist will want to defer tomorrow gp,which will want to defer to a cardiologist that I have yet to see.
But thank you for that inforrmation.
@ronludington
My provider suggested drawing a stick figure and indicating where pain is, then waiting 30 days and doing it again. I just did that a couple months ago and it was the least stressful way I’ve ever gone about it. I dated the first drawing and filed it away, didn’t think about until I pulled it out after drawing the final one. Of course, this would work for any time frame.
I am interested to hear how your appointment with your rheumatologist goes. Will you come back and comment?
@jlharsh by the way, what schedule do you do for 2 times a week ?
@jlharsh sure, absolutly.

1 ReactionI split mine into 2.5 mg taken every other day and it improved my cholesterol significantly. No muscle pain or weak legs, either.

1 ReactionThis is by no means advice that would/might work for you but my cholesterol levels were "borderline" and my PCP was quick to suggest a statin which I tolerated for about one week! I went online and designed my own routine of Red Yeast Rice (OTC statin, unregulated by the feds), garlic tablets daily, and added lots of fiber to my diet with fiber gummies. My cholesterol is now well within normal limits, dropped 20 points in a few months. No side effects and I am regular too! LOL

1 Reaction@ronludington I had the same question. My doctor told me to try Sunday and Thursday.
How about Atorvastatin?
