Benign carcinoid tumor in bronchi tube

Posted by jessie1990 @jessie1990, Oct 30, 2025

Hi I've been diagnosed with a benign typical carcinoid tumor in my bronchi tube in right lung was found when I went to A&E with pneumonia back in July of this year I've had 2 bronchoscopys 2 biopys which showed benign carcinoid tumor I was sent for ct scan mri scan and pet scan pet scan was clear I was put under general anesthetic as my lung specialist said he might be able to remove tumor by going down my throat instead of haven surgery but didn't work but he was able to take 40% of tumor out as it was blocking my air way that's how pneumonia set in the 40% he removed also came back benign carcinoid 1 lymph node was removed and checked also clear now I need surgery to remove the rest I'm so confused as doctor said its a benign tumor then Google is telling me it's a low grade cancerous tumor but doctor nor lung specialist said anything about cancer just said its benign doesnt benign mean non cancerous and can any one tell me how surgery went thank you bless you all xx

@nannybb so confusing Wednesday night when I was in hospital lung nurse came to me said hi jessica we spoke on the phone a few times it's nice to meet you In person she said what I have is noting to worry about the reason 2 lobes were removed Is because of where the tumor was sitting it was in a very awkward place I just need regular scans..... yes tomorrow is my last day 🙌 I have no clue I no there is 29 on outside and there's like a stitch at the bottom where the big scar is under it they put another hole small one with 3 staples I think that was made to remove the lower lobe and the big cut was to remove the middle lobe ❤️

@jessie1990 Jess, if you don't mind, could you ask tomorrow is you have any staples on the inside of you, and if so, what they are made of? I would really appreciate it. I'm just wondering, because my doctor was vague about the staples in me, and I think that is part of my problem. If you have them on the inside and you have no problems, then that makes me doubt my doctor even more as to what the heck he did. If you don't want yo ask, I'll understand. 😉

@jessie1990 Hallelujah! I hope you are finally able to sleep better. I'm so glad you have zero staples on the inside. I'm thinking that may be my problem. Jess, I also hope you have a great holiday with your friends and special family. Thank you so much for asking them about the staples. I really appreciate it.💕

@jessie1990 Well, because I have started with a new doctor, he does not want to see me again for 3 months from the 1st visit. He said he will be closely checking not only my lungs, but my liver. Most cancers have a path they travel if it metastasizes. (Liver than bones for carcinoid tumors) At this point though, this new doctor, after looking at the pathology report, is questioning if I even had carcinoid tumor. If I didn't, that means the 1st surgeon operated for nothing and I have been in horrible pain for 5 months for nothing. So, I really don't know for my case. Most likely for you, it will be every 3 months for the first year post-op, then every year thereafter. That is what I was told by the 1st surgeon. Because your surgery was so invasive, I'm praying they got it all. 🙏
