1 ReactionHello @porscha,
I'd like to invite @llynch17056, @missey and @laketahoebob who have shared their experiences taking Repatha on Connect in the past.
@porscha, members who have discussed experiencing side effects with Repatha often talked about experiencing them right away on the medication and the side effects lessening over the course of a few weeks. After two weeks on the medication you mentioned you are feeling good, is that still the case?

1 Reaction@JustinMcClanahan my experience was that the side effects on Repatha came on a bit more slowly than with statins. For the first couple of weeks I thought I had found a chlorestrol lowering drug that I could tolerate. But, that was not to be. Once the side effects came on they were even worse than as ratings and only got worse, never better. I took it for 3 months, one week and had to quit.

No problems ever with Repatha. Started with the 4 week injection and was forced to change to the 2 week injections when they discontinued the 4 week version.

2 Reactionsi’ve been taking Repatha for years with no apparent side effects and it’s lowered my LDL tremendously. It’s now in the 20s.

This was my experience. It took four shots for the side effects to be worse. Not doable! diarrhea, failure to void urine and deep severe itching.

2 ReactionsI wrote previously that I experienced severe insomnia soon after beginning Repatha, although reported such side effects are rare. I know it was due to the Repathad becaue I had no problem prior to taking it.
I stopped taking it two months ago but insomnia did not abate. I am now taking Trazedone to sleep.
On 40 mg atorvastatin and 10 mg of Zetia but too early to tell if that is working to reduce cholesterol.
Repatha is very effective but apparently has many side effects.
I started Repatha in September.i was very concerned that I would not be able to tolerate it since I had such a bad reaction to statins. I had no issues with the first 2 shots, but by the third I started experiencing breathing issues. I wasn’t sure it was that, so I did my 4th shot on schedule, but I contacted the cardiologist office and they told me to skip the next 2 injections. I wasn’t sure afraid I would lose whatever gains I made, so I did the shots anyway. Happy to report that although my breathing is still a little labored my bloodwork on Monday showed my cholesterol dropped from 184 on 9/8 to 126 on 12/8 . I’m thrilled.

2 ReactionsI took one injection due to statin intolerance. I had a bad local reaction to the shot (redness and bruising) and a major upper respiratory reaction (like a bad cold - congestion and lots of mucous). I did not take a second shot.
