In praise of Orgovyx

Posted by northoftheborder @northoftheborder, Oct 7, 2024

I'm hardly an old vet here (my stage-4 prostate cancer was diagnosed just 3 years ago), but I've seen big changes in treatment even over that short time.

In my opinion, the biggest improvement has been Orgovyx. Getting a Firmagon injection was like having the flu, a stomach rash, and a fist-sized swollen reaction to a wasp bite ... Every. Single. Month.

The past six months on Orgovyx — just another daily pill — have been like night and day for my quality of life. I find it puzzling when I read people posting about how "awful" Orgovyx is, and then I remember that they're not comparing it to Firmagon but to life before ADT.

So maybe I am an old vet after all, since I'm comparing things to the bad old days (uphill in the snow both ways and all that). 😉

I am sorry you're experiencing many side effects listed by the Orgovyx manufacturer. My 6 months in Orgovyx will end in September; I'm hoping my favorable experience will continue until then. I also hope your situation will improve, see a reduction in SEs,

Thanks! I’m supposed to be taking it until Christmas Eve, 2026 but I’m going to attempt negotiating early release!

I don’t know that my hot flashes are notable, but one or two will wake me up at night and I averaged one hourly on a trip this week while driving. It just feels like my scalp and face are melting but I’m not completely miserable

I use an Embrlabs.com Wave 2 device to reduce hot flash intensity and for nights. The device has a night mode that last seven or eight hours and send cooling waves through your arm and at night it tends to eliminate any flashes that would wake you up. The bed used to be wet under me when I’d wake up And the device stopped that problem.

They do have a 60 day moneyback guarantee.

If the hot flashes bother you enough, get one and I can give you instructions for how to configure it the best way. I beta tested the product four years ago and I’ve been I worked with them to fix bugs since then.

Thanks, Bob, been feeling really good since being off ADT. Still damned tired, though…but not getting any younger so no surprises there.

As with everything else with prostate cancer side effects from ADT vary from person to person.

Even though I’ve been on it for nine years I’ve had never had a fatigue problem, but I have a terrible, hot flash problem.

I also never had depression from it and never gained weight from it, But many do.

The loss of muscles, The weakening of bones and Some cardiovascular problems affect almost everybody. Brain fog is another issue that only affects some people, And usually requires longer term use of ADT.

Sometimes i wonder how much of my fatigue is psychosomatic. Hey , they tell me it’s going to make me tired-who am I to argue?

My side effects from Orgovyx have been quite tolerable. Hot flashes, fatigue, body aches, and brain fog have all been minimal. I have maintained some libido and I get through most days with little problem. I applied for and received a grant to cover my medication cost until I hit the catastrophic level so my out-of-pocket costs have been minimal.
I’m looking forward to faster recovery of testosterone and rebuilding loss muscle at the end of ADT.

Good luck to everyone who reads this on their journey with PCa!

@thnx4beingthere, to be honest, I didn’t feel anything for the first few days after taking the loading of ORGOVYX. No hot flashes, nothing. I deliberately waited seven days before I started my generic Zytiga. The point of both drugs is to deprive your body and the cancer cells from testosterone and when my testosterone plummeted, I did experience some nausea, but my doctor had prescribed Compazine, which worked quickly to stop the nausea. I’ve heard good things about about Nubeqa. I hope you get great results! Good luck on your journey.

There is no reason to wait for the Nubeqa. You can start the orgovyx Right away. The two drugs do very different things,

Orgovyx alone should bring your PSA down, The two together should keep it down.

I just happen to stumble across your post right now. I don’t spend a lot of time on the form these days. I also have the same device. It was a game changer when I had hot flashes. Hope you’re doing well. Happy holidays and merry Christmas if you celebrate Wishing you my best.

Had my blood test yesterday and my PSA has now been undetectable for 25 months. Not bad after 16 years and four reoccurrences. Nubeqa Really works well, And without side effects.

I actually stopped wearing my Wave 2 Three days ago. Even though I’m still on ADT, my hot flashes have pretty much disappeared. A real relief after having them for seven years.

Wish you happy holidays too and everyone a Merry Christmas and/or a Happy Hanukkah.
