Zepbound and low blood pressure
On Zepbound and my blood pressure has dropped low. Any advice would be great. I drink a lot of fluids, eat small meals and it is working but I am not sure I can continue with the low blood pressure. Having had high blood pressure for years this a big nasty change.

@meali
I had similar situation, years of high blood pressure and then started getting dizzy due to low blood pressure. In my case I had lost lot weight due to bariatric surgery and was eating less and healthier but still taking meds for high blood pressure. I saw my primary provider who readjusted high blood pressure meds.
Are you currently taking BP meds? Do not stop taking meds without consulting provider, I advice checking with your provider about change.

2 Reactions@roch - that's a really good point about relooking at medications with weight loss.
@meali - I'd be curious what the doctor who prescribed the weight loss shot has to say about your blood pressure concerns. How are you feeling today?
Morning blood pressure was still low, it picks up in the afternoon some days. Dr who handles my bp med has lowered it again. I just started Zepbound about 6 weeks ago and am down 13 lbs. I will see the dr that prescribed the Zepbound next week, I did send her a message and all that was said is low blood pressure is not a side effect. Mornings are rough.

2 ReactionsHi, @meali, I've taken tirzepatide (Zepbound), and I did not notice any blood pressure drops. I didn't measure it, either, but I'm guessing you are talking about noticeable symptoms from your blood pressure going down?
I'm tagging a few more Mayo Clinic Connect members who have talked about taking tirzepatide (Zepbound) to see if they, like you, have seen their blood pressure drop low when taking these shots. Please meet @merrychristmas @mef46 @medisecy @bp486 @gwenrn74 @bp486 @3oakley2 @luvrofthelord @cabby.
How are you feeling today, meali?

1 Reaction@meali Greetings been on med since Sept 2024. Down 111# and 18# more to go. I have not had difficulty with my BP since learning I needed to increase my water intake(which will increase blood volume and help with constipation) and protein. I was on a small 5mg dose of lisinopril then down to 2.5mg, then just discontinued it. No BP meds for about a year now. I believe this was at around 40# loss. Are you drinking enough and eating enough? I ask because I had dizziness and weakness because I couldn’t eat enough…we lowered my dose and voila I could eat, the dizziness and weakness went away. We have never raised it as I am still having good luck on a small dose.
I wish you well and hopefully your cardiologist can figure it out. Do you have a BP cuff at home? If it was me(retired RN)I would monitor my BP 3x day for awhile and keep a record so maybe you can see when and why it’s happening and it might help your Dr also pinpoint the problem? Best wishes with your Zepbound journey.

3 Reactions@lisalucier I believe you have responded to the wrong poster. My blood pressure is fine. I've plateaued 155 lbs for 4 months
I am on atenolol for high BP . I have been noticing that get light headed when walking and diaphoretic. I thought my blood sugar was low but I didn’t think of my BP. Last night and this morning my BP has running mid 90/54. That’s is LOW for me. I will take it a few more days . If call the Dr she will make come in for office visit— it’s always high when I see the Dr . I hate going to the Dr !!

1 ReactionHi @gwenrn74 - you're right. I was responding to @meali who is having issues with her blood pressure while on tirzepatide (Zepbound).
You received the email notification when I responded to @meali because I @mentioned you to bring you into the discussion to share your experiences with tirzepatide (Zepbound), hoping you might have some helpful tips for meali. See her discussion here:

gwenrn74, I had some plateaus when I was taking semaglutide (Wegovy), and I struggled sometimes to figure out why. What do you think has made you plateau in your tirzepatide (Zepbound) journey? Did your prescribing doctor have any thoughts on that or what you might do next?
No clue. Im on a Mediterrean diet. I eat food without labels. I do yoga, Pilates , dumbbells- guess I could swim or something...
