Benign carcinoid tumor in bronchi tube

Posted by jessie1990 @jessie1990, Oct 30, 2025

Hi I've been diagnosed with a benign typical carcinoid tumor in my bronchi tube in right lung was found when I went to A&E with pneumonia back in July of this year I've had 2 bronchoscopys 2 biopys which showed benign carcinoid tumor I was sent for ct scan mri scan and pet scan pet scan was clear I was put under general anesthetic as my lung specialist said he might be able to remove tumor by going down my throat instead of haven surgery but didn't work but he was able to take 40% of tumor out as it was blocking my air way that's how pneumonia set in the 40% he removed also came back benign carcinoid 1 lymph node was removed and checked also clear now I need surgery to remove the rest I'm so confused as doctor said its a benign tumor then Google is telling me it's a low grade cancerous tumor but doctor nor lung specialist said anything about cancer just said its benign doesnt benign mean non cancerous and can any one tell me how surgery went thank you bless you all xx

Yes, you’re in more of a desert climate than I am. I’m only a few miles from the coast so pretty great weather with fresh air all year around, just not enough rain. I remember seeing that Haboob on the news. Gross. I can hardly breathe just looking at it. How often does that happen? You also get the occasion monsoon with lightning that fills the sky. I would enjoy the lightening. It’s been raining steady for the past few hours, but no wind or lightning. Just right. I hope the rain makes it to you without fizzling out.

@californiazebra The monsoon season comes with the haboobs and storms. The haboobs only happen a few times a summer.

@tomrennie That is amazing
I hope this does not happen often. I would imagine there would be a lot of dust on everything, not to mention your lungs.

@nannybb Dust gets everywhere.

@jessie1990 you get used to them when you live here. You can see them coming from miles away. You lock up the house and watch it come through. They usually only last a few minutes.

@nannybb 100% totally agree health system here is a disaster also like I've been told in July I've a tumor I've half some of it removed in Sept and noting since then just waiting on surgery now been told don't worry about the half that was removed growing back as these tumors are very slow growing that is not maken me feel better i want it gone and was expecting it to be gone back in July not nearly 5 months after I was diagnosed

I was diagnosed with a mass in my lung in early January a couple of years ago. I was sent to a local pulmonary doctor and called every week for an appointment. I was told that I was next on the list. After 3 months I was finally told he was retiring. I was then sent to a pulmonary doctor in another town. In June I saw him and had a bunch of tests completed. All came back negative for cancer but…., he did not believe the tests results. He sent me to a cancer doctor where she decided to do all of the testing and more over again. Only 1 biopsy came back positive for cancer. Finally in August I had both the top and bottom right lobes removed. I had both Adenocarcinoma cancer and carcinoid cancer different cancers in the different lobes. Thank goodness the carcinoid tumors grow slowly. Waiting is a big part of this game!!! I still have more tiny carcinoids. I do not know what comes next but I doubt if they can take out any more lung tissue
Good luck during the long waits. Keep busy
My question is…. Can a carcinoid tumor turn into an Adenocarcinoma tumor????

@jessie1990 Downdrafts from thunderstorms. It isn't uncommon for our summer temperatures to hit 115 Fahrenheit or more. The intense heat can cause powerful thunderstorms.

@ggiinnaa To my knowledge, carcinoid tumors can not turn into adenocarcinomas.

@ggiinnaa I've asked my lung nurse can typical carcinoid turn atypical she said no she said there was really strong evidence mine is typical carcinoid cause I was worried could a typical carcinoid turn atypical while I wait for surgery do you still get scanned after the tumor was removed that many years ago nurse also told Me carcinoid tumors grow really slow so i don't need to worry about the part that was removed in September growing back

I wonder if you also have DIPNECH like I do that might explain the other tiny carcinoids that you have.
