Any filter that goes down to .2 works. I cannot afford them either! I like the idea of no showerhead and putting a plastic bag each time on the pipe to slow down the stream!

I've used Aquamedix but switched to Safe Water Products a few years back. Their smaller one works well in our travel trailer and I loved that I can buy replacement filters one at a time, unlike the Aquamedix. I use the 886 Plus in my home shower and the smaller 886 in the travel trailer. I use a sediment filter in front of it and it makes my filters last a long time and the flow stays good. In the camper, we have a filter that we connect directly to the water at the site and that catches sediment, etc. as well.
We just got back from a three-week camping trip, and I was able to use the handheld in all the campgrounds but one in their handicapped showers -- they all had handheld wands I could just unscrew and put mine on. It was great for places where we didn't have full hookups and I didn't want to fill up our gray tanks too quickly.
Their products are still available on Amazon, but they've gone to selling them through their own shopping portal. If you go to their website, which is safewaterproducts.com and look at the bottom, you'll see the link to shop. Use the code NTM-25 for a 25% discount. It's free shipping and no tax and the first order I placed through the new site arrived quickly.
If I'm in a situation where I can't use my showerhead, though, I either take a bath or you can do as Dr. Falkinham suggested in a recent presentation and put a mesh laundry bag or a Ziploc with a hole in it over the showerhead. It will reduce the aerosolization of the water that creates the droplets we're more likely to inhale.
I spent the first few years after I was diagnosed worrying myself constantly about exposure from the shower. It's so nice not to worry anymore!!
@machesta Hi, there! I just get them off Amazon. I had asked Dr. Falkinham if I needed to worry about the carbon in the stage filters of the sediment filter, and he said because it's before the .2 micron Safe Water (or whatever one you use) showerhead, it wasn't a problem. I just looked for one that had extra filters for it and would work with my handheld. It was about $30, as I recall.
Yes, I am. I have the 886 for my travel trailer and when we take trips by car as well. I have been using the 886 plus in my home shower. I may eventually just use the 886. It has half the capacity of the plus, but I take short showers and don't shower every day, especially in the winter. For comparison the 886 will filter 1360 gallons approximately and the 886 plus will filter double that amount. It is larger -- longer particularly, which is why I started with the smaller one for our travel trailer.
I was wondering…if it is the aerosolized water that is the big concern, would simply using a rain style shower head be a sufficient change? I bought an all-metal shower head with a rain setting. I ended up with no misting on the mirrors or glass of my shower. I do keep the door open and the exhaust fan on. It was a big change from my old shower head which made the whole room damp and foggy. I was hoping that I could start with this improvement, and then find a filter that I could attach, but it is proving to be a challenge to find one that attaches to an existing shower head that is not hand held. Does anyone have a suggestion for this?

1 ReactionSo here is a shower head that is not metal so perhaps will withstand soaking in undiluted bleach as Dr Falkinham recommends. Any thoughts?

1 ReactionI recently got a water flow control valve to reduce the water flow and hence less mist.
can explain what that is?
Angle Simple (brand, you can get other brands, too) Water Control Flow Valve from Amazon. See attached picture.

Where are you purchasing the sediment filters you are using with your safe water products? Are you still happy with the safe water products?

I have been using Aquamedic filters as well. No complaint.
Best wishes of great health to all of us!
