Diagnosed with server aortic artery stenosis in June 2025. Been through 13 follow up tests and 2 consultations. Out of breath and now mild headaches. I still do not have surgery date as of 11/9/25. Is this normal?

It's hard to say. If you're in a bad way, suffering a lot of anxiety, severely limited in what you can do, then either call for an update, explain any new changes or deterioration, or go to the local ER and complain of chest pains. That usually rattles a cage or two.

2 Reactions@aylestone570, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! You are going through an extremely stressful process and I imagine learning quite a bit of new information. You mention having a lot of tests that hopefully are helping your doctor know more about your unique situation.
Here is an article you may find valuable if you haven’t seen it.
- Aortic Stenosis: When Is It Time To Consider Valve Replacement? https://mcpress.mayoclinic.org/healthy-heart/aortic-stenosis-when-is-it-time-to-consider-valve-replacement-surgery/
What have you learned from testing? Have you had a chance to visit with your doctor to find out what is next? What type of surgery are you thinking needs done?
Did you have your consult with a Mayo Cardiologist? I was diagnosed with moderate-severe Aortic Valve Stenosis in September 2024 in Iowa and got my consult with the Rochester Mayo Cardiologist November 4, 2024 when more testing was done at Mayo, then I agreed to surgery and he referred me to the valve specialty group. They scheduled more testing for me in January with a surgery date of January 17, 2025. I was given the option of OHS or TAVR and I opted for TAVR which went great. Right before the surgery date, my shortness of breath was getting worse so the timing was great. If you are not a candidate for surgery due to other reasons, they should let you know when they do the consult, they may recommend weight loss first if that is a factor. I was right at the top of the overweight BMI so I still qualified.
Also, when your records are first sent to Mayo, it goes through a Triage group, who make the decision if you qualify, and they will refer you to their cardiologist for the consult. That takes a few weeks.
@jlharsh please correct the title to this thread it should be SEVERE not SERVER. FYI.
