6x6 mm Distal aortic stenosis diagnosis
Please please please help!
Is it to be concerned about?
CT scan with contrast results as follows: (This morning)
( it was ordered by cardio vascular Dr due to unintentional wt loss of 12 lbs in a few months with labor contraction like pain).
Waiting for a call from Dr!
Aorta: There is diffuse atherosclerotic disease in the aorta. There is severe narrowing of the lumen of the aorta distally, with the contrast opacified lumen just proximal to the bifurcation measuring 6 x 6 mm.
What questions to ask? Does it have anything to do with severe stomach issue and weight loss!
Is it cardiologist domain? Gastroenterologist or cardio vascular?
Quick back ground: I had 5 cardiac arrest, 2 STEMI in past! Coma, blood clot, 6 stent, carotid surgery…It is on my profile!
75 year old grandma. 5’1”, slim build, 110lbs( now down from 123lbs). I follow heart healthy diet!
Walk at least 4-5 thousand steps indoor! Take all my med on time!
What else I can do to improve it?
Please guide!

Hi @manisham,
Getting your results sounds like it was a bit of a shock and concerning. Sometimes receiving your results digitally comes before talking with your provider and it can be a period where seeing the results without the expert context can lead to some anxiety. Has your provider contacted you in the time since your results? Were you able to ask some of the questions that had you most concerned?
@JustinMcClanahan Hello Justin! No I have not heard from my cardio vascular surgeon who had ordered the test!
Thinking positively, I am assuming it is nothing to be concerned about! Or he would have called!
I tried researching on different site! There are many results for aortic stenosis but not many for DISTAL ABDOMINAL aortic stenosis!
I had 4 cardiac arrests, 20” clot in leg, coma etc.. and have 6 stents in heart and one in carotid artery, hence the word stenosis in both, MRI and CT scan results became concerning to us!
I will wait till he calls or till my next appointment!
Thank you for caring!
@manisham Are you kidding me? Your going to wait till the doctor calls you????? Or wait till your next appointment? ..........Most doctors, particularly specialists are very busy and in spite of what you think, their patients welfare is usually NOT TOP OF MIND when results come back. They expect you to get in line and call their nurse or other intermediary. Not all, but most that I have dealt with. Over a year ago I was diagnosed with a double ascending aorta & root aneurysm. After results came back from CatS. I had studied enough to ask questions about my numbers, meaning the cm of each of the aneurysms. The doctor could not find the results and showed his disdain by putting "Dan asks a lot of questions" on my patient portal. Not a word about the burning question in my troubled mind. I hope that I am the exception! But, I would get on the phone immediately and call the doctors office for at least a summary statement of what amounts to his opinion. Otherwise, what are 2nd opinions for? Good Luck!
