Side effects after having Y90 treatment Radioembolization

Posted by vincelinda24 @vincelinda24, Sep 29 6:13pm

My husband has liver cancer, tumour size 4.9 cm. On 21 August 2025, he had the Y90 treatment. Due in December a CT scan to see if it worked.

Since the treatment he is constipated, has to take Lactulose and Restoralax in order to go and sometimes it doesn’t work.

He also has no appetite, eats little and has lost weight.

He also has fatigue.

Is this all normal or is it a sign that the treatment is not working and the cancer is spreading?

@tomrennie my husband saw his doctor today and the type of liver cancer is Hepatocellula.
His CT scan has been moved up 6 November, so we’ll know if the Y90 treatment worked. If not, the next treatment is Ablation.
He had lots of side effects with the Y90 treatment. Constipation, fatigue, loss of appetite and weight.

@vincelinda24 Good luck with everything. Sometimes the wait is the hardest part. Crossing my fingers, and toes, that the news is great. Let us know what you find out ok? I am doing well. Finished another chemo cycle on Monday, and I keep moving forward. Thanks for asking.

Today my husband received good news of his Y90 treatment. It worked! Now in 4 month he’ll have an MRI. Thank God, we’re so happy.

Thank you so much for sharing this information about your experiences with Y90! My husband had a Y90 treatment on Sept 23 for 2 liver lesions. He had a rough couple of days and then seemed to be fine. All of a sudden he has been suffering from fatigue and loss of appetite and nausea. He has colon cancer, and an ileostomy, which metastisized to his liver so I didn't know what was going on or who to call. Seeing this thread has been such a relief. Nothing better than real life experience! Thank you again.
