Reversal of a fundoplication
I had a hernia and the fundoplication done in February as post this my chest is on fire. Going back to see the surgeon who did it on Tuesday. Has anybody had the same experience? If this guy does not have a answer heading for Mayo.
Thanks
Dennis

It’s been almost two weeks since my revision surgery. I must admit my midsection has not felt this normal/relaxed in three and a half years.
Still on a liquid diet for two more days. Then a week on a mushy diet.
Big noticeable difference is I’m not experiencing the extreme excessive gas as before.
I’m extremely grateful to Dr Odell and the Michigan Medicine team. I won’t say at this point it’s a %100 improvement but it’s damn close.

2 Reactions@gregoryd I had my nissen taken down when they did gastric bypass surgery on me.
I've had 2 fundoplications- first was a Nissen wrap ww/ GB removal (DON'T RECOMMEND) for severe reflux- lost my voice for 5 months. The bloating was horrendous. Able to burp, but with difficulty. Esophageal spasm so painful I thought I was having a heart attack ( writhing on the floor, 12/10 pain. ) Still have spasms but I'm able to manage them, I have a Lidocaine suspension on hand if needed. Still have difficulty swallowing especially with dry foods, like chicken & bread. EGD's done 4x for some stretching, but I think that scar is so tight it doesn't help much. Symptoms have been worse since I had a VP shunt implanted in August, now with pain over the rib where the shunt empties into my abdomen. I have to sip on hot liquids while eating for food to go down.
Not sure where to go from here.

1 Reaction@luvnursing52 I'll keep you in my prayers for relief and answers. I had a NF in March this year for hiatal hernia and reflux, and still experiencing reflux. GI doc talked about reversing the NF. I'm confused about that but I'm trusting my heavenly Father to guide me. I'm praying he will do the same for you. God bless~
@linsu Thank you for your kind words!!

Thank you for putting so much time into your comments. I appreciate how much you’ve researched and shared.
I too have had all sorts of GI issues, had a Toupet fundoplication and not much relief, maybe even worse.
I think also what you are saying is true, a lot of the symptoms are probably coming from other imbalances in the body, like SIBI/dysbiosis, maybe even dysautonomia….
This is why I am doing a really strict protocol for healing - I only eat soft, slow cooked meats, especially beef. I also add animal fats and meat stock.
Very strict sleeping schedule, limiting stimulation, sunlight, grounding, activity and avoiding anything toxic…..
So as to reset my nervous system and microbiome.
How are you nowadays? Did you end up having the reversal for the fundoplication? Did you manage to find your way?
Curious of your reply!
